COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) did not discriminate against anyone based on their economy, political affiliation, power equation, or social strata. The virus has touched every continent and almost all countries and impacted entire humanity. Starting from the Wuhan city of central China from the middle of November 2019, it spread so Fast that by the time people realised its vulnerability it had already engulfed all. On 30 January 2020 it was termed as 'Public Health Emergency of International Concern' and on 11 March 2020, it was recognized as a 'Pandemic'. DOI:10.5281/zenodo.4318193

Online disinformation, the spread of deceptive messages, and making unsolicited and/or controversial comments with the intent to provoke an emotional, kneejerk reaction to engage in arguments are pernicious. This has become a global phenomenon. Not only sadist individuals resort to such acts, but the political machinery in many countries also make use of 'trolling' and 'fake news' dissemination to manufacture public consent or dissent on issues to further their parochial interests. Adrian Shahbaz, a Freedom House research manager, opines that "the unprecedented rise of state-sponsored manipulation and election meddling online was unique to 2017, and may prove much harder to fix than other ills", implying gradual institutionalization and political patronage of such tactics.

The journal of Liberal Studies invited eminent scholars of the country to ponder over India's energy requirements and the strategy it must adopt and adhere to, to maintain a balance between its growth aspirations while simultaneously remaining a responsible stakeholder in the global climate change discourse. Manpreet Sethi opines that every potential source of electricity generation should be optimally used and the menu of options be varied so as to minimise risks of disruption. Meanwhile, India has a strong case for exploiting and expanding the role of nuclear energy in its future electricity mix for obvious reasons. Dhanasree Jairam, taking into account the global concerns for climate change, argues for India to thrust towards renewables through pro-active climate diplomacy. Manish Vaid, on the other hand, highlights the greater role of natural gas in the energy transition which can go beyond just being a bridge fuel to clean energy for a sustainable future.
