Desde el inicio de su mandato, una de las prioridades del presidente Abdel Fattah El Sisi fue la reconfiguración de las relaciones del poder religioso en Egipto, un pilar sobre el que se asienta la legitimidad del régimen. No obstante, sus intentos de restar poder a la institución de al-Azhar por medio del ministerio de Awqāf o Asuntos Religiosos se enfrentaron a la tenaz resistencia de al-Azhar, en un escenario de tensión larvada entre los diversos actores religiosos del estado. En el presente artículo se exponen las líneas maestras que, en el escenario post-Mubarak, configuran la relación entre el estamento religioso de al-Azhar y el estado egipcio con sus diferentes instituciones político-religiosas, analizando en qué medida estas influyen en los sucesos y avatares de la política egipcia contemporánea. ; From the beginning of his mandate, one of the main priorities of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was the reconfiguration of religious power relations in Egypt, a pillar on which the regime's legitimacy rests. However, his attempts to disempower the institution of al-Azhar through the ministry of Awqāf or Religious Affairs dealt with the tenacious resistance of al-Azhar, in a scenario of latent tension between the various religious actors in the Egyptian State. This article deals with the main lines that, in the post-Mubarak scenario, configure the relationship between the religious establishment of al-Azhar and the Egyptian state, and analyzes to what extent this tense relationship makes its influence felt on the events and vicissitudes of contemporary Egyptian politics.
