Comments on Mr Lorenz's communication ; Observations sur la communication de M. Lorenz
I listened with great interest to the communication of Mr Claude LORENZ, who gave us a lot of clarity about this rather strange idea for us about the "eruptive" introduction of these associated sand and iron ores. That the protagonists in this case were mine engineers, perhaps not entirely random. In the second half of the nineteenth century, these professionals are now used to interpreting the bulk of traditional metal ores as happy filonian types, and due to bottom-up inputs (contrary to the theory of the Gottlob Werner School, who is known to be filling per descensum). Observing the alignments, it was, in sum, quite normal that, from their point of view, the fields in question corresponded to 'live' tectonic accidents. If not true, this was at least logical. Moreover, in the absence of sufficient operational depth, the decisive negative evidence was missing: the closure of the cavities at their lower end.
