Bogotá or the city of lights in the days of the centennial: the urban transformations and the harbingers of progress ; Bogotá o la ciudad de la luz en tiempos del Centenario: las transformaciones urbanas y los augurios del progreso
In this article there are analyzed the urban and architectonic transformations suffered in Bogotá after the celebration of the Centennial of Colombia's Independence in 1910 event that took place in a city that would experience a vast population and urban growth during the 20th century. With this purpose, it is first described the economic and political situation of Colombia entering the mentioned century, it is described the place elected to commemorate the centenary by making an architectonic exhibition and it is explained the architecture the city had at that moment. Further, the various architectonic structures included in the exhibition, their authors, contents, as well as their uses and final destinations are referred. As a final point, a balance is made of the possible urban and architectonic consequences this exhibition has brought to the development of Bogotá during the 20th century. ; En este artículo se analizan las transformaciones urbanasy arquitectónicas que sufrió Bogotá a partir de la celebracióndel primer Centenario de la Independencia de Colombia en1910, evento que tuvo lugar en una urbe que experimentaríaen el siglo xx un desbordante crecimiento poblacional y físico.Con este fin, se describe la situación económica y política deColombia en los albores del siglo xx, se refiere al lugar elegidopara la exhibición conmemorativa del Centenario de 1910 yse aborda la arquitectura de la ciudad en ese momento. Sedescriben luego las diversas estructuras arquitectónicas queconformaron la exhibición, sus autores y contenidos, así comolos usos que luego se les asignaron y su destino final. Por último,se hace un balance de las posibles implicaciones urbanasy arquitectónicas que tuvo esta exposición en el desarrollo deBogotá en el siglo xx.
