Eine exemplarische Lektüre von August Strindbergs I havsbandet ("Am offenen Meer", 1890) verdeutlicht Potentiale einer biopolitischen Perspektive auf literarische Texte. Strindbergs Roman verhandelt in hohem Maße Möglichkeiten und Grenzen einer Regierung des Lebens, die sowohl am Individuum als auch an Kollektiven ansetzt.
