This article shows how since the last decades of the 20th century, there has been significant interest in the Spanish nobility of the Modern Age, which has resulted in numerous works of great importance. Most of this research, which has followed the lead set by Antonio Domínguez Ortiz in the middle of the 20th century, has explored various aspects of the noble estates of the realm or has analysed certain noble families. Even so, despite the otherwise solid historiographic literature on nobility, comparative studies of nobility in other countries remain scarce, as do general works about the collective nobility and the categories thereof. In this regard, good progress has been achieved in recent years thanks to research on the different levels of nobility –such as the knights of Military Orders and titles of nobility–, mainly in relation to the first half of the 18th century. The work presented here is dedicated mostly to a historiographical review of all the studies that have contributed recently to learning more about select groups of nobility, and especially the titles of nobility conferred during the reign of Philip V. Key words: Modern Age, Philip V, noble estate, titles of nobility, noble historiography, historiographical review doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.20318/revhisto.2016.3108

; This paper presents a project, conceived as action research, which has been implemented within the framework of teacher training, specifically, in the second year of the Degree in Primary Education of the University of Almeria. The main objective is to develop professional competences in future teachers, who provide them with the necessary strategies to train "global" citizens, capable of understanding their world and engage with it. The project has focused on a relevant social problem such as the situation of Syrian refugee children, a subject that, unfortunately, is very topical in our days. The objectives that we set out have their origin in the model of teacher we want to train. Related to this, we asked ourselves if competences offered by the framework of the European Higher Education Area are sufficient to turn our university students into professionals with critical, social, ethical and democratic thinking through working with relevant social problems. It was important to develop a critical training model with the intention that students will realize the need to transform Social Sciences into an instrument that makes possible, from the school, the social change. We also wanted to overcome prejudices in the students about the possibilities that offer the curriculum design to work on these topics. In this paper we advance the theoretical foundation on which the project is based, as well as the phases in which it has been organized for its development. Although we are in an initial phase of analysis of results, we can establish some initial conclusions based on questionnaires passed to the students, once the project is finished, wich reveal its positive impact. The History of Spain is one of the subjects of the second year of Baccalaureate, so its contents are subject to evaluation in the University entrance examinations. In this context, aware of how these tests can condition the teaching and learning processes and the development of historical thinking in students, we propose as an object of study to analysed these tests in the Andalusian context, in order to know their nature and characteristics. We also compared the tests carried out before the pandemic context and those carried out during said period, to detect possible changes. The total number of exams analysed amounts to 150 (n=150) corresponding to the period 2008-2021. An exploratory-descriptive research design has been used that combines qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches. As the most outstanding results, we observed the preeminence of tests of a conceptual nature over those of a procedural and attitudinal nature, and the presence of exercises that do not require superior cognitive abilities in the students. There is also a trend towards rote and short-answer exams, a circumstance that has been accentuated in the context of the pandemic, and the elimination of exercises such as text commentary and the use of sources and evidence. We conclude that it is necessary to replace these University entrance examinations with other types of tests focused on competencies, which really evaluate the historical thinking of students and not only their ability to reproduce content.
