International audience Crime infotainment is a hybrid type of television program in which each episode is based on a real criminal case and presented to the audience under the form of a reconstructed narrative. Research has shown that although violent crime is ubiquitous in other types of media, leading to an over-representation of violent content, crime infotainment is the most fear-inducing type of media as compared with newspaper coverage and television crime drama. This leads people to believe their lives are at risk and they consequently support cultural conservative politics of anti-crime measures which are excessive considering the risk. It is therefore important to understand how crime infotainment content is built to induce fear. Adopting the framework of Ideological Discourse Analysis developed by van Dijk (1995a, 1995b, 2006), the study presented here proposes an analysis of three French infotainment stories, comparing the semantic fields in their speech with the semantic fields developed in related newspaper articles. The study also proposes an analysis of image content in infotainment which leads us to the conclusion that the blurring of the lines between what is presented as (discursive) fact or (imagistic) fiction may well have a consequent impact on the audience.

International audience ; This study proposes an analysis of some pragmatic gestures with three types of open-palm gestures: beats and two instances of the hand flip, elsewhere called the 'palm-up open-hand' gesture (Müller, 2004; Cienki & Müller, 2008). Drawing upon three different corpora (political speeches made at the European Parliament, a television show in which the role of this parliament is presented and a corpus of conversational speech recorded in a lab), it proposes an analysis into prosodic, discursive and modal gestures. The paper - through the discussion of particular examples - will address the issues of the type of prosodic and discourse units which are marked by these gestures. Using the same methodological framework, the type of grammatical modality conveyed by open-palm gestures will also be considered.

the analysis of language and speech is based on the study of a variety of areas ranging from phonetic to pragmatic, while taking into account the way in which they are expressed. For modern languages, while each area has a certain level of autonomy, it can only be explained in its interaction with others: linguistic information is the product of the convergence of multiple sources of information, which is also constrained by the environment in which the message was produced. Language analysis can therefore only be carried out taking into account the different ways in which information is expressed. However, to date, there is no integrated theory dealing with information from the different levels of the language chain, which is by its very nature a multi-modal sensory content. Although many annotation projects have developed in recent years, problems remain: annotated multimodal resources are hardly available for French; annotation standards do not fully meet needs and tools are not adapted. However, the development of this type of resources is useful in several respects, including the description of the information in each of the areas and their interactions. We present the Corpus of Interactional Data (CID), an audio and video corpus with 8 hours of dilogary in French, the annotations under consideration (phonetically, prosodic, morphosyntactical, mimo-gestual) and their state of implementation. ; L'analyse du langage et de la parole repose sur l'étude de domaines variés allant de la phonétique à la pragmatique, tout en prenant en compte les modalités de leur expression.
