Objective: To identify the aggravating and mitigating factors to the perception of death of patients in the Intensive Care Unit. Methods: This is an exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach, performed with 07 inpatients in the ICU, using the saturation criteria for delimitation of the sample. Data were collected through semi-structured scripted interviews with indirect approach to the subject, all patients signed the free and enlightened consent, and then the data was analyzed in light of the pertinent literature, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee University Hospital Alcides Carneiro HUAC under CAAE nº04818912.0.0000.5182. Results: Two thematic categories emerged, one showing the aggravating factors to the perception of death, and the other the mitigating factors to this perception. Conclusion: The existence of some factors may contribute to the worsening perception of death of patients, however, others mitigate this perception, often favoring for their recovery.

Objective: To investigate the applicability of unconventional practices in health performed by visitors with affective bonds and/or family members of critically ill patients. Methods: A descriptive and quantitative study was carried out in care environments to critically ill patients from the Emergency and Trauma State's Hospital in the city of João Pessoa - Paraiba. The sample consisted of 100 families. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and analyzed by the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software. Approved by the Research Ethics Committee under number 328.320. Results: It was observed applicability, knowledge and good acceptance in the use of some unconventional practices by family and by people with emotional bonds with critically ill patients. Conclusion: The unconventional practices provide comprehensive care to the individual, to the family and to affective bonds. Family and affective bonds convey a great reliability of these practices, recognizing them and integrating them is a key component to the influence of its use.

Objective: To conduct a search of published scientific works about the importance of exercise in promoting multidimensional care for the paraplegic or quadriplegic individual, as well as to investigate the knowledge of nursing about the benefit of such activities and to clarify the role of the nurse in assisting the person paraplegic or quadriplegic. Methods: This is an integrative review, conducted in the databases LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE, BDENF e CAPES portal, corresponding to the years from 2004 to 2014. Results: Patients affected by spinal cord injury have deficits of care and self-care. Thus it was found that exercise offers many benefits including biopsychosocial. Conclusion: It was observed that the practice of physical exercise does not yet have effectiveness, however, it is important that nurses know about these benefits to guide the patients' family members in the provision of quality care.

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the contextual aspects of the therapeutic communication phenomenon between nurses and male users in the context of healthcare. Method: This is an analytical reflection, developed from a contextual analysis to understand the phenomenon. Results: The discussion of the study's phenomenon was therefore basedon the analysis of four contexts: immediate, specific, general and meta-context, allowing one conceptualization of therapeutic communication, the factors and beliefs that permeate this communication, and finally, the social prospect of the nurse and male client. Conclusion: It was concluded in this research that there is a need for therapeutic communication between the nurse and the male client so that the integral care can occur. Nurses with technical training and holistic vision will be able execute adequate therapeutic communication, expanding the vision of the male client as responsible and co-author of his own health.
