Chaos theory has been first applied to natural sciences and then to the humanities and social sciences and, since the beginning, got rapidly a developing field. Chaos is extremely complex and difficult to be identified in the real world. Even using the workable information, it is possible, anyway, up to a certain extent, to find specific mathematical relationships for problems to be solved. In forensic identification problems it is common the use of DNA profiles. The first bases of DNA profiling data emerged in England in 1995 having raised new challenges in the context of forensic identification. In Portugal the legislation that allowed the creation of a DNA profile database was set in 2008. In this work it is intended to discuss how to properly use the databases in the recognition of bodies problem that compiles information about missing individuals which are known to belong to one or more families whose members have reported the disappearance of relatives. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion

Chaos theory resulted in great part from natural scientists' outcomes in non-linear dynamics area. The prominence of associated models has increased in the last decades, due the non-linear systems temporal evolution study. Consequently, chaos is one of the concepts that most quickly have been expanded in what research topics concerns. In case of unstable relationships in non-linear systems, chaos theory aims to understand and explain this kind of unpredictable aspects of nature, social life, the uncertainties, the nonlinearities, the disorders and confusions. Scientifically it represents a disarray connection, but basically it involves much more. The close association between change and time seems essential to understand what happens in the fundamentals of chaos theory. This theory got a central role in the explanation of a lot of phenomena. The relevance of these theories has been well recognized in the clarification of social phenomena and has permitted new advances in the study of social systems. Chaos theory has also been applied, particularly in the context of politics, in this area. This work goal is to make a reflection on chaos theory – and also on dynamical systems and theory of complexity – in terms of the understanding of political issues, considering some events in the political context and also considering the macro-strategic ideas of states positioning in the international stage. In this line of reasoning the "Drop of Honey Effect" metaphor is presented, somewhat analogous to that of "Butterfly Effect", and the idea that it is better suited to portray social phenomena, in particular political phenomena, is defended. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion

With the objective to know the electromyographic activity normal parameters of the deltoid (anterior portion) and pectoralis major (clavicular portion) muscles in the different modalities of military press exercises with middle grip, we analyzed 24 male volunteers using a two-channel electromyograph TECA TE 4, and Hewllet Packard surface electrodes. It was observed high inactivity levels for PMC in almost all the modalities and the concentration in the active cases, mainly, in the weak potential, while DA presented very high levels of much strong action potentials in all the modalities assessed.

The deltoid (anterior portion) and pectoralis major (clavicular portion) were evaluated in several execution ways of military press exercises with open and middle grips in order to know their behavior pattern. It was analyzed 24 male volunteers, using a 2-channel TECA TE4 electromyograph and Hewllet Packard surface electrodes. It was observed that the execution variation with open and middle grips does not present any significant difference as for the demanding level neither for the pectoralis major muscle nor the deltoid muscle.

However, it is a key factor that should deserve greater attention both from scientists and policy-makers, since it may severely impair effective management efforts, especially in such dynamic environments as coastal areas. The case of the Tróia peninsula (SW Portugal) is presented to illustrate how (inadequate) legislation effectively impairs management. The need for a new praxis in policy-making is discussed.
