Unexplored stylized facts on OECD countries suggest that plurality electoral systems are associated with higher openness to immigration. We propose an explanation based on a retrospective voting model where immigration hurts voters but benefits a rent-seeking policymaker who appropriates part of the income generated by immigrants. To be reappointed, the policymaker must distribute the compensation. With respect to proportional systems, plurality systems make it possible to compensate only a few decisive districts and leave after-compensation rents higher, therefore producing higher immigration. In our model, non-decisive districts receive no compensation at all under both electoral systems, providing a rationale for widespread anti-immigration attitudes. Notably, our results also help to explain why governments often seem more pro-immigration than do voters. Finally, our model predicts that opposition to immigration is more geographically dispersed in plurality systems. Basic evidence supports this prediction.

Objectives Italy is in third place in the world ranking for the production of table grapes with 1.4 million tons. The Puglia region produces about 70% of this amount through the cultivation of 35,000 hectares. This production takes place with the aid of the "tendone system" which is a structure consisting of wooden or concrete piles, and steel cables. This structure supports the plastic covering materials that can be fixed anti-hail nets and / or mobile rolling films. The "tendone systems" utilize plastic coverings material in order to obtain anticipated (transparent film), conventional (anti-hail plastic net), postponed productions (plastic net and plastic film). The knowledge of environmental loads generated by the table grape production is interesting because, in addition to normal agricultural practices, involves the use of other materials from the technosphere and specific installation practices. The aim of this work is the analysis of the environmental profile of the orchard construction phase for table grapes by means LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). A research project that involved 26 farms producing table grapes, allowed collecting relevant data concerning the production cycles, the technique of construction, the materials used for "tendone systems". Methods This study uses the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology to determine the environmental impact of a table grapes production with the use of "tendone-systems", carried out according to standard UNI EN ISO 14040-44. Life Cycle Assessment can be a decision making tool for government officials, industries or society to evaluate a product's environmental impact. Interview in farms have supplied the primary data for the inventory of this production. The Gabi7 software and Ecoinvent 3.1 database were used for inventory and processing of collected data. The analysis covered only the phase of installation of the tendone-system (from cradle to installation analysis). The adopted functional unit was 1.0 ha of prepared agricultural surface for growing table grapes, covered with a tendone-system. Results The method of evaluation of environmental burdens was CML2001 (Centre of Environmental Science, Leiden, Netherlands). The results have provided the environmental burdens produced by the construction and installation of the tendone-system. A comparison between the tendone-system for the conventional production (plastic nets), anticipated (transparent film), and postponed (plastic net and plastic film) productions was also realized. The increased amount of plastic used for the cover and the relative disposal causes greater environmental burdens. The carried out analysis is the first step in the overall evaluation of the production of table grapes by means of tendone-system.

Hintergrund
Die Regierungskommission für eine moderne und bedarfsgerechte Krankenhausversorgung hat in ihrer neunten Stellungnahme eine weitgehende Substitution des Notarztdiensts durch nichtärztliches Rettungsdienstpersonal empfohlen. Insbesondere bei hochinvasiven, potenziell lebensrettenden Maßnahmen stellt sich die Frage, inwieweit eine Substitution durch nichtärztliches Rettungsdienstpersonal möglich ist. Um dies zu evaluieren, führten wir eine systematische Literaturrecherche zur endotrachealen Intubation durch Notärzte und nichtärztliches Rettungsdienstpersonal durch und verglichen die Ergebnisse miteinander.

Methode
Wir führten eine systematische Literaturrecherche in pubmed.gov (National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine, Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD, USA) zu "first pass success", Gesamterfolgsrate und unerkannten ösophagealen Fehlintubationen von präklinischen endotrachealen Intubationen durch nichtärztliches Rettungsdienstpersonal und Notärzte durch. Suchworte waren "prehospital" und "intubation" und "success". Eingeschlossen wurden prospektive und retrospektive Studien, deren Daten aus dem gleichen Rettungsdienstsystem stammten. Die Ergebnisse wurden narrativ ausgewertet.

Ergebnisse
Wir erhielten insgesamt 523 Ergebnisse, von denen 8 Studien die Einschlusskriterien erfüllten. Auch in grundsätzlich Paramedic-basierten Rettungsdienstsystemen werden Notärzte eingesetzt, wie 7 der eingeschlossenen Studien zeigen. Notarztgeführte Rettungsmittel hatten einen hohen Intubationserfolg, auch wenn die Intubation durch nichtärztliches Rettungsdienstpersonal erfolgte. Der Intubationserfolg von nicht notarztgeführten Rettungsmitteln war deutlich schlechter. Die Qualifikation des eingesetzten notärztlichen Personals hatte einen deutlichen Einfluss auf den Intubationserfolg in den untersuchten Studien.

Schlussfolgerung
Hochinvasive Maßnahmen, wie z. B. die endotracheale Intubation, benötigen eine entsprechende Expertise. Eine Substitution dieser Maßnahmen durch Notfallsanitäter ist problematisch. Es wird daher auch weiterhin eine hohe Anzahl bodengebundener Notärzte nötig sein. Anforderungen an die Qualifikation des eingesetzten notärztlichen Personals sollten erhöht werden.

Hintergrund
Der Bundesverband der Ärztlichen Leiter Rettungsdienst (BV-ÄLRD) hat einen umfangreichen Katalog an Medikamenten für die Anwendung durch Notfallsanitäter vorgeschlagen. Wir evaluierten, wie oft Auszubildende zum Notfallsanitäter diese in ihrer Ausbildung applizierten.

Methode
Wir befragten 71 Auszubildende zum Notfallsanitäter zur Anwendungshäufigkeit 30 verschiedener Medikamente. Die statistische Auswertung erfolgte mit SOFA (Paton-Simpson and Associates Ltd, USA). Die Ergebnisse sind als Mittelwert (Standardabweichung) dargestellt.

Ergebnisse
Adrenalin i.v. wurde 2,22 (6,67) Mal verabreicht. Atropin wurde bei Bradykardie 1,18 (1,97) Mal verabreicht. Benzodiazepine wurden präklinisch 7,27 (10,28) Mal angewendet. Inhalative Betamimetika wurden präklinisch 8,89 (8,06) Mal, Ipratropiumbromid 3,70 (5,91) Mal, Kortikoide 3,79 (5,32) Mal und Antihistaminika 1,82 (4,34) Mal verabreicht. Ondansetron wurde innerklinisch 14,38 (35,06) Mal angewendet. Präklinisch wurde Dimenhydrinat mit 8,14 (10,14) Anwendungen am häufigsten verabreicht. Furosemid wurde präklinisch 6,06 (9,45) Mal verabreicht. Heparin wurde präklinisch 12,00 (14,32) Mal, ASS 14,32 (14,29) Mal und Glyceroltrinitrat 12,25 (10,87) Mal verabreicht. Metamizol wurde präklinisch 8,59 (12,51) Mal, Ketamin 3,51 (5,23) Mal, Opiate/Opioide 10,72 (16,18) Mal und Naloxon 0,20 (0,67) Mal verabreicht. Glukose wurde präklinisch 7,38 (6,67) Mal verabreicht.

Schlussfolgerung
Die Bewertung, für welche Medikamente eine ausreichende Expertise besteht, kann aufgrund fehlender Daten zu Lernkurven oder konsentierter Mindestzahlen nur vor dem Hintergrund klinischer Erfahrung erfolgen. Aus Sicht der Autoren besteht für die meisten untersuchten Medikamente eine ausreichende Expertise.

The alkali activator solution used was a mixture of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide. Class F fly ash was used as the precursor material for the geopolymerisation process. Soil samples stabilised with non-activated class F fly ash were prepared and tested to compare the results with samples stabilised with alkali-activated fly ash. Compaction tests, unconfined compressive strength tests, X-ray diffraction analysis, and scanning electron microscopy analysis were carried out on samples cured 1, 7, and 28 days at room conditions. The results showed that the compressive strength of stabilised soil significantly increased when the fly ash was activated. The optimal activation parameters to stabilise the soil were found to be alkali dosages in the range of 12% to 16% and a silica modulus of 1.25. The highest compressive strength recorded was at 1293 kPa with an alkali dosage of 16% and a silica modulus of 1.25, while for the non-stabilised soil, it was at 204 kPa at 28 days of curing. Mineralogical analysis showed a decrease in the peak intensities of kaolinite and illite, while microstructural analysis indicated an alteration in soil texture with the addition of the alkali-activated fly ash. ; European Union's Horizon 2020 ; Turkish Ministry of National Education (MoNE)
