This book focuses on the power of the 'ordinary', 'everydayness' and 'embodiment' as keys to exploring the intersection of trauma and the everyday reality of religion. It critically investigates traumatic experiences from a perspective of lived religion, and therefore, examines how trauma is articulated and lived in the foreground of people's concrete, material actualities. Trauma and Lived Religion seeks to demonstrate the vital relevance between the concept of lived religion and the study of trauma, and the reciprocal relationship between the two. A central question in this volume therefore focuses on the key dimensions of body, language, memory, testimony, and ritual. It will be of interest to academics in the fields of sociology, psychology, and religious studies with a focus on lived religion and trauma studies, across various religions and cultural contexts.--

"Religious and Sexual Nationalisms in Central and Eastern Europe : Gods, Gays, and Governments presents case studies from some ten countries that serve to explore the ways in which religion, nationalism, and (homo)sexuality intersect in public discourse. It shows how religious leaders, political and social movements, LGBT-organizations, governments, and media negotiate the powers of religion and state in taking position regarding sexual diversity. These negotiations are as much about sexual morality as they are about national identity, anti-EU sentiments, and the efforts of religious institutions to regain power in post-communist societies. The orthodox protestant christian website Refoweb offers an anonymous form of pastoral care. Visitors of the website have the opportunity to submit questions to the questions section. In this article, questions about gender are analyzed. Questions deal about women's clothing and the problem women experience with the idea that man is the head of the wife. From a dualistic point of view, males are associated with the mind and spirit and females are associated with the body. Some questioners experience this as inferior and oppressive. Questioners articulate their agency within the context of orthodox Protestantism.
This book on water and climate change goes beyond the usual and predictable analyses, by bringing religion and values into a discussion that is often dominated by technocratic solutions. The three case studies of Jakarta, Cape Town, and Amsterdam demonstrate the challenges of water management in urban areas and the role religion can play in addressing them. With representatives from science, politics, economics, and religion, as well as young voices, the book stimulates a values-driven dialogue on issues of water in times of climate change
