The recently revised EU Renewable Energy Directive recognises heating and cooling as a key sector in accelerating the decarbonisation of the energy system. In order to facilitate the penetration of renewable energy in the heating and cooling sector, each Member State is required to increase the share of renewable energy supplied for heating and cooling by an indicative 1.3 percentage points as a yearly average for the periods of 2021-2025 and 2026-2030. In this endeavour, new technologies and innovative concepts are being tested at local level in order to optimise the integration of renewable and waste heat sources into the heating systems in urban environments. The RELaTED H2020 project is exploring an innovative concept of decentralized Ultra-Low Temperature district heating network which allows for the incorporation of low-grade heat sources with minimal constraints, larger shares of renewable energy sources and distributed heat sources. En un país donde la tradición de fotografía documental en el siglo XX ha estado centralizada en Cuzco, los fotoóleos del ecuatoriano Manuel Quiroz producidos entre 1949 y 1950 sobre Catacaos, una población rural de la costa norte del Perú, representan un caso novedoso, por las características formales y narrativas de la obra y la recepción pública que tuvieron durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX. El objetivo del artículo es exponer este caso aplicando metodología de identificación de la serie de sus fotoóleos originales dedicados a Catacaos y mediante un estudio de contexto a partir del análisis de documentos del álbum personal que elaboró Quiroz sobre su vida pública en el Perú. Por el amplio y heterogéneo reconocimiento que tuvieron los fotoóleos y el fotógrafo, estamos ante un caso inédito en la fotografía peruana y latinoamericana, en el que estas imágenes contribuyeron a que la sociedad reconozca en ellas una historia y una identidad regionales.

El financiamiento de la Avda. Costanera Norte y de los Módulos de Arranque, que son parte esencial del Plan de Desarrollo Costero de Asunción está siendo gestionado por el MOPC con la Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF).

Objective
The purpose of this paper is to present the progress and trends of the literature on art as an investment and to outline potential research lines to be developed.


Design/methodology/approach
This work gathers, analyses and critically discusses the attributes of investments in art in general, and in Latin American art in particular.


Findings
Most studies report that art (art in general, and Latin American in particular) has offered relatively low but positive real returns, which have tended to be below those offered by stocks and similar to those realized by bonds. Art has a low correlation with other investments.


Research limitations and implications
The literature on the attributes of Latin American art as an investment is limited and new research would help to close the knowledge gap with respect to this segment of the art market as it continues to grow.


Practical implications
Similarly to the research carried out into other segments of the art market, studies on Latin American art suggest that the works of art are worth more, ceteris paribus: the more renowned the artist, the larger the work, whether they were executed in oil, and if they were auctioned at Sotheby's or Christie's. The paper also details a series of practical implications for those who participate in the art market.


Originality/value
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first exhaustive review of the literature on the attributes of Latin American art as an investment. The findings of this study are useful for academics, art collectors, auction houses, gallerists and others who take part in the arts market.
