Capitalism has tried, through different educational reforms, to take ownership of the question that universities should be asking, by adding in their management new models of communiaction and marketing. This process is an attempt to legitimize the commodification of the Higher Education, leaving universities at the mercy of the market place.
Communication management in Spanish public universities. This paper analyzes communication management in Spanish public universities by interviewing communication directors of these institutions. Results show that, in addition to the shortcomings identified in the management of communications in public universities, which undermines the achievement of the exact marketing objective, the diffusional model is dominant, playing a negative influencing role. The diffusional model obscures other alternative models that would show more democratic institutions.

La lucha está en el relato. Movimientos sociales, narrativas transmedia y cambio social
Por tanto, hablar de narrativas transmedia en la comunicación de los movimientos sociales es hablar de empoderamiento y construcción de la comunidad como un acto político.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ABSTRACT: It is still surprising to see in the narrative field how unfamiliar the fight between power against power is in social movements. However, the agenda of the leading actors, who are the ruling power, has been led by the strategy of the story from the very beginning. In fact, the first stories of present powers have been useful for providing sense to themselves. They are precisely the ones which have caused the transformation of the classical domination to the hegemony of imaginary people who were able to legitimise their power and to block or keep apart any alternative social model as discriminated. This narrative strategy of power is clearly marked by a strong asymmetry which is evident by the monopolization of the whole system of communication and building of the imaginary collective. However, that control of the imaginary starts showing some mistakes in a world where media, networks and new social movements live together. This fact gives back the main role to the citizens. This group of circumstances allows us to understand that the communication of social movements to change society must incorporate the narrative strategy to build hegemony. Stories are not only new ways of telling but also new ways to take part in reality, to implement involvement and participation expressing new qualities of collective action. To sum up, to talk about transmedia narrative in social movements communication is to talk about promoting and building a community as a political act.

Communication, Education and social movements online: New Imaginaries, old utopias
Due to the Internet arrival, the Social Movements, alternatives and critics, have considered it as a new scene capable to renew the traditional ways of intervention and collective action. Besides it is open the possibility to outdo the activism atomization of the social movements, organizing them in a global strategy, articulated upon nodes of local intervention. There is a renewed illusion, due to this inclusion of social movements in the Internet, understood as a new pedagogical tool for the organization, the debate, the broadcast and the social mobilization, which wake up old social utopias, that nowadays they are proposed as real and feasible utopias. This way we regard that the role of the citizenship, as a participant in the political power, could be replaced by a mere contract of enjoyment of goods and services in the Internet worldwide (Pérez Luño, 2004). So, the individual may find satisfied the technological utopia which includes the promise of social change. The tension generated by these to powers seems to be granting a privilege to an instrumental use of New Technologies in the transformation processes that promote the social movements. This way we may misunderstand the managing of utopias with simple strategies of online communication and education. Therefore, it is needed to overflow (in a metaphorical way) that instrumental interpretation of the Internet to release deep structural transformations and new imaginaries related to the utopia of a free communication and education media, at the service of a democratical society development.
In: Revista latina de comunicación social: RLCS, Heft 71, S. 994-1006
ISSN: 1138-5820
Ethnography, visual narratives and learning ecologies. The 'Universidad Rural Paulo Freire' case
In this paper, we present some of the results of the R&D Project called "Ecologies of learning in multiple contexts: analysis of expanded education projects and citizenship configurations" funded by Minister of Economy and Competitiveness (Spain). The interest of this project arises after considering that much of the individual and organizational learnings have been turning invisible in different educational spaces. Therefore, our purpose is to study the different socio-educational mechanisms that individuals and organizations put into play in different scenarios: schools, asociations, virtual academical contexts, etc. On this ocassion, we present some of the methodological issues and results of a specific case: "La Universidad Rural Paulo Freire de la Serranía de Ronda" (onwards URPF), a rural socio-educative organization. The ethnography is being developed in Benalauría (Ronda mountain range). This organization is focused in the recovery of traditional learnings that people used to have around the rural world. It is settled in a critical perspective that connects their educational actions under the approaches of sustainability, dignity, feminism, etc. The general objectives we consider for this project are the following: - To know life style of people in Benalauría context. - To understand the configuration of URPF group and its impact in the territory. - To promote learning communities of practice with other organizations. As specific objectives, we emphasize: - To review the conceptual frameworks those allow us to understand the practices of invisible learning in this experience. - To generate visual narratives those evidence the work and identity features of the URPF. - To analyse the life stories of the people who are part of this experience (as well as the collective story), for the understanding of socio-educational action in rural contexts through dialogue of knowledge, generation of democratic practices and collaborative participation. - To generate spaces for dialogue with other organizations, groups and people for the creation of networks and learning communities. ; Universidad de Málaga.
