The concise attention, which is being given to girls' education, is marked by a strong sense of need, as well as complexity. Circumstances and contexts in relation to gender, at a family, social, political and religious level, are decisive in the design and development of pedagogical proposals. More progress has been made in the study and analysis of the girl in the framework of educational systems, so we choose, in this paper, to focus our attention on non-formal education. Thus, we reflect on the causes to be considered a vulnerable group and, therefore, a priority in the future of educational strategies, while offering various experiences that, based on precepts, data and logic offered by supranational organizations (unesco, unicef.), intend to break the invisibility that, today, continues to show the collective in many contexts.
; ESP
The topic of this paper is to provide a critical review of adult education policies during the Franco period. By means of a historical-pedagogical method, clearly associated with the socio-historical approach, our work seeks to reveal the causes and the consequences of the policies, that is to say, both the reasons for the various initiatives aimed at this group as well as the social and political value derived from them. In this sense, we have undertaken an analysis of the role played by the Campaña Nacional de Alfabetización y Promoción Cultural de Adultos, which was understood to be the most ambitious project in the sociocultural field. By means of a simple but precise and clear hypothesis, we attempt to offer a realistic, accurate approach that seeks to add to the already revised view of the adult socio-educational vision during the dictatorship, offering a new analytical and interpretive point of view. To do so, we start from the well-documented Republican approach, which helps us to understand the evolution of adult education during the ensuing four decades of dictatorship.
The present study addresses the governance processes governing the organization and management of educational institutions in Portugal, in a context of analysis in which the educational reforms carried out in this country, from the early nineteenth century (when school responsibility is assumed exclusively by the State) to the present, play what we estimate a central role. It is in response to this reality, on the basis of which we study their meaning and state. Evaluation, privatization and autonomy are the vectors which, we believe, provide the frame for a market speech in which we intend to emphasize, considering, on the one hand, that the management of education is conditioned by political developments and interests, of one kind or another, and, on the other hand, that the evolution of governance in its various institutions, although in progress, is gradually adapting to the standards set down at European level in varying degrees of intensity.
Thus, in this article we analyse the official status kept by this territory regarding the adult education by two ways. The first one is related to the formal model of adult instruction, assumed at a national level and adapted in the local one. In this way, we highlight the different actions of literacy developed in our region, making a distinction between structural and pedagogical indicators, and explaining them by their action spaces, curricular and main contents. In a second stage, we turn to study the promotion and cultural extension strategies to, on the one hand, unmask the hidden purposes of the regime's initiatives and, on the other hand, know their application in the adult sociability development beyond the simple and insufficient literacy.

This paper aims to address the subject of teacher authority as it has become a problem that has gone beyond educational barriers, to become a political issue. To do so, we analysed the evolution of teacher authority over the last two centuries, considered from its different portrayals in the legislation. As units of analysis, we have taken the education laws starting in 1857, with the Moyano Law, to this day, as well as the regulatory developments that have arisen in this regard at the regional level. The study of the regulations from a historical perspective will allow us not only to verify the role that has been given to the teacher at each moment in this time span, and how this has been collected in the regulations, but also the evolution of the concept of authority and the value granted to it at each different moment.
; During the last few years, the Spanish educational system has assisted a profound transformation, produce, among other things, of the political alternation established in our country, which has brought with him the enactment of numerous educational reforms, in a very short period of time. The last pretend to carry out a series of changes that affect different areas of our system, including university access. Many times, this is conditioned by different factors that revolve around the student, and that go beyond the strictly academic, such as: the family socioeconomic origin, the educational level of the parents, the teaching center, etc. The long and sinuous road that students must go over until they begin their university journey is determined by a lot of elements on which serious social inequalities can be hidden. Using the sociohistorical approach, we intend to analyze the new educational proposal in terms of access, from which, university institutions will be given greater autonomy, so that they themselves are in charge of selecting their students, through of specific access tests, as the main educational powers of the international panorama already do. In this way, there will be a paradigm shift in university access, where higher education institutions will be able to select their students according to their credential, obviating any other element that moves away from academics and that may bring about inequalities in this transition process.
; Over the last decades, we have confirmed how a constant flow of pedagogical initiatives have tried to solve the social and economic exclusion of the youngest. Definitely, the European initiative "Second Chance Schools" (E2C), which is celebrating its 20 years of application, has become essential to achieve equal opportunities from the School, thanks to its firmness, organization and institutionalization. Our proposal includes a bibliographic review in combination with a socio-critical approach. We intend to know what its origins are -which we anticipated in the mid-90s-, what its political- educational evolution is as well as the reflection it currently presents in the different countries of Europe. In this way, on the one hand, we will discover whether the E2C can and should be considered as a «supranational action» and, on the other hand, whether it is an educational equity guarantor essential to achieve success after failure. To this end, we are expounding a discussion in which we put on paper the pros and cons, advantages and disadvantages, of this socio- educational bet, as praised as criticized, concluding, finally, with a novel approach regarding the potentialities and possibilities that, still little recognized or hidden, we believe that these «opportunity schools´» have.

Importance Juvenile amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare form of ALS characterized by age of symptom onset less than 25 years and a variable presentation. Objective To identify the genetic variants associated with juvenile ALS. Design, Setting, and Participants In this multicenter family-based genetic study, trio whole-exome sequencing was performed to identify the disease-associated gene in a case series of unrelated patients diagnosed with juvenile ALS and severe growth retardation. The patients and their family members were enrolled at academic hospitals and a government research facility between March 1, 2016, and March 13, 2020, and were observed until October 1, 2020. Whole-exome sequencing was also performed in a series of patients with juvenile ALS. A total of 66 patients with juvenile ALS and 6258 adult patients with ALS participated in the study. Patients were selected for the study based on their diagnosis, and all eligible participants were enrolled in the study. None of the participants had a family history of neurological disorders, suggesting de novo variants as the underlying genetic mechanism. Main Outcomes and Measures De novo variants present only in the index case and not in unaffected family members. Results Trio whole-exome sequencing was performed in 3 patients diagnosed with juvenile ALS and their parents. An additional 63 patients with juvenile ALS and 6258 adult patients with ALS were subsequently screened for variants in the SPTLC1 gene. De novo variants in SPTLC1 (p.Ala20Ser in 2 patients and p.Ser331Tyr in 1 patient) were identified in 3 unrelated patients diagnosed with juvenile ALS and failure to thrive. A fourth variant (p.Leu39del) was identified in a patient with juvenile ALS where parental DNA was unavailable. Variants in this gene have been previously shown to be associated with autosomal-dominant hereditary sensory autonomic neuropathy, type 1A, by disrupting an essential enzyme complex in the sphingolipid synthesis pathway. Conclusions and Relevance These data broaden the phenotype associated with SPTLC1 and suggest that patients presenting with juvenile ALS should be screened for variants in this gene.
