Il saggio presenta le trasformazioni del lavoro attraverso le ricerche empiriche condotte nell'arco di trent'anni dall'autore e/o dagli Istituti da lui diretti: l'Ires nazionale e l'Istituto Per il Lavoro (Ipl), nonché da altri autori e Istituti italiani ed esteri. Le trasformazioni analizzate riguardano sia gli aspetti macro, sia i problemi della qualitŕ del lavoro richiesta dalle organizzazioni.

Der Verfasser skizziert die historischen Vorläufer der aktuellen Krise und den politischen Weg, der von den einzelnen europäischen Regierungen in der letzten Dekaden beschritten worden ist. Die Wurzeln der aktuellen Krise sieht er in der neoliberalen Regulierungspolitik, der sich verschiedene Regierungen in unterschiedlichem Maße verschrieben haben. Auf Seiten der Gewerkschaften konstatiert der Verfasser eine Unfähigkeit, mit der neuen wirtschaftlichen und institutionellen Realität der EU-27 klar zu kommen. Diese neuen Realitäten erfordern neue Perspektiven. Hier greift der Verfasser auf konzeptionelle Beiträge von Geografen und Soziologen zurück, die Probleme der Machtverteilung und der institutionellen Ordnung ansprechen. (ICE)
