In a rare interview given to his lawyer Gilles William Goldnadel, the French-Israeli billionaire, originally from Russia & primarily known for his role in "Angolagate," unveils his new political ambitions. Having moved to Israel several years ago, Arkady Gaydamak is running for mayor of Jerusalem in 2008. His decision was spurred by the war against Hezbollah in the summer of 2006; when he realized how mediocre Israeli politicians were, & decided to get politically involved himself. His frank style, his generosity (he finances many different charities) & his involvement in the world of sport (as the owner of several clubs) have all made him very popular in Israel. Convinced that peace will be easier to attain if the Arabs' quality of life is improved, he is behind a number of initiatives to achieve this & is actively engaged in the search for a definitive accord. This businessman from everywhere & nowhere has apparently found a place to call home. Adapted from the source document.
