The fall of Kampala to the National Resistance Army (NRA) on 26 January 1986 and Yoweri Museveni's shearing in as President three days later marked a major watershed in Uganda's nearly 25 years as an independent state. By 1989, Museveni had provided a degree of security that Ugandans had not known for many years. The author looks at the creation of the national army (NRA), the restoration of civil order, elections for an expanded National Resistance Council etc. (DÜI-Sen)
