Iran has been committed to strengthening its health‐care system by launching macro health policies, known as the General Health Policies (GHPs). This study aims to identify concepts and interventions formulated in the GHPs and helps to advance understanding as to what extent GHPs are aligned with global priorities. Content analysis was conducted to quantify concepts. Equity emerged as a critical principle underlined by the GHPs. Suggested measures mainly focused on improving health system governance. The main goals were improving health outcomes, equity, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. The Iranian health system vision is to be one of the best‐integrated health‐care systems with medical education in the Western South Asia region and the Islamic world. In line with global health strategies, GHPs offer a country‐specific map to accelerate progress toward sustainable development. This analysis suggests that implementing the GHPs is in the public's interest and should be supported by the community.
