Contemporary Portuguese Anthropology, Almost a Half Century since April ; Antropología portuguesa contemporánea, casi medio siglo desde abril
This article is a cartographic proposal about Portuguese anthropology, during the period that began with the transition to democracy, in April 25, 1974, and extends to the present day. Mobilizing the production of anthropologists, based on the sci-entific production, the teaching, the research, and the role of the National Museum of Ethnology, the text begins to allude to the course of the discipline, guided by the cosmopolitanism of the national, which is combined with colonial logics, in an approach of the nation and the empire, which continues until 1974. The Carnation Revolution inaugurates a period of rupture and creativity, in which Portuguese anthropology responds to the proposal of "democratizing, decolonizing and developing", with an evident expansion of the discipline, in the new democratic framework, added to the funds and optimism resulting from EEC membership. This time of enlargement would be violently interrupted due to the reflexes of the economic crisis, in 2012, resulting in the con-traction of the disciplinary work, and the pursuit for new ways. At a time when the contours of neoliberal science seem to asphyx-iate the expandability of the discipline, limiting the horizons of the youngest practitioners of anthropology in Portugal, recent trails places to the emphasis on the role of anthropologists in the societies of the future.
The border area between Portugal and Spain has long suffered from the attraction towards centers : Lisbon and Madrid. At the same time, it was a shelter area, a place to form ties ; it was another way to survive or make a living. Local history, language and sociability reveal a reality rolled out with time through coexisting local populations, either quarrelling or cooperating beyond or against the state's norms and jurisdictions. The border is also a liminal area with its own baseness. In this text, I will examine an event that took place at the border between north Portugal and Galicia. Liminality in time and space unveils questions about remembrance policies regarding Iberian dictatorships and historicity regimes. In this case study, the event occurs in a border village, ten years after the Alzamiento : Cambedo da Raia is surrounded and under several mortar attacks, people are killed, a man commits suicide, several other people are arrested and some among these latter are sent to the dreadful Tarrafal concentration camp. Information about these events has been covered up and distorted by Portuguese censorship. ; publishersversion ; published

El tratado de lisboa de 1864 ; The treaty of lisbon of 1864The demarcation of the border and the national identifications ; La demarcación de la frontera y las identificaciones nacionales
UID/HIS/04209/2013 ; The Treaty of Boundaries between Spain and Portugal, signed in Lisbon in 1864, is paradigmatic of the modern treaties of inter-state borders. In this article it is studied first the works of the Mixed Commission of Boundaries created to this object, and its relation with the population of the «line» (raya) -local name for the adjacent zone to the border-, then we analyze the diplomatic negotiations and the final text of the Treaty. The identity discourses on which the demarcation of border is based are specified in order to show its relation with the processes of national identification. It is necessary to differentiate three levels in these discourses: the «palace» discourse of the central authorities and diplomats, the technical and progressive discourse of the military engineers and topographers of the Commission, and, finally, the local people discourse. ; publishersversion ; published
