The Psychology of Collective Narcissism is a ground-breaking text that presents a new theory of collective narcissism, a belief that exaggerated greatness of one's own group should be but is not sufficiently appreciated by others. The book presents this concept against the background of social identity theory and research. It explores antecedent as well as social and political consequences of collective narcissism. The increase of the Polish minimum pay can be considered in different contexts. From the perspective ofvarious industries it is quite cheap. From the perspective of the employees concerned, it turns into a senseof security and greater satisfaction with the payment received. From the perspective of the precariat, theminimum pay is an opportunity to get rid of uncertainty. What is more, the minimum pay is also associatedwith other ideas, such as basic income, maximum pay or unification of the minimum pay across the EuropeanUnion. Appropriate combination and introduction of these ideas may lead to a decrease in the number ofprecariates and to increased satisfaction with the work amongst Poles. These considerations may be thebeginning of a discussion on introducing the basic income.

Celem artykułu jest ocena, czy model Beneisha może stanowić użyteczne narzędzie do wykrywania manipulacji wynikami finansowymi, które prowadziły do wydania negatywnej opinii biegłego rewidenta lub odmowy jej wydania w polskich spółkach kapitałowych. Badaniem objęto 24 pary przedsiębiorstw z głównego rynku Giełdy Papierów Wartościowych w Warszawie oraz z rynku alternatywnego New Connect. Z przeprowadzonych analiz wynika, że przy punkcie granicznym –2,22 model poprawnie identyfikował 67% manipulatorów i 75% niemanipulatorów. Dokładność modelu wzrastała z 71% do 75% wraz z przesuwaniem punktu odcięcia do –1,98. Kolejną obserwacją był fakt, że duże zmiany w wartościach M‑Score okazały się lepszym kryterium oceny. Klasyfikacja podmiotów na podstawie 35% zmiany wskaźnika rok do roku pozwoliła zwiększyć dokładność grupowania do 85%.

Up to the 19th century, very little was written in Slovenian language; in the official and business life, the written Slovenian was an exception. This contribution discusses the role of Slovenian language in legal texts of towns and market-towns, namely those few Slovenian environments that through centuries had local self-government with its own elected representatives and judicial administration. Chronologically the contribution is limited to the period up to the Spring of Nations of 1848, after which the conditions for the public use of Slovenian language changed significantly. From the mid-16th century there are only a few dozen known Slovenian official records regarding undertakings of town and market-town autonomies. Among them, there are only a handful of stand-alone documents; and by far the most official oath forms. It is no coincidence that the records from towns and markets emphasizing the Slovenian linguistic image of the population have been preserved, since the bulk of these texts was created in these environments simply because there was a need for them. The vocabulary used is a faithful reflection of the actual terms used in administrative and legal terminology, often adapted German words, and loanwords. The first imperative of the writers of Slovenian official oath texts was their understandability, as they were mainly intended for oral use and wide audiences.

AbstractIn this article I explain why asset‐based fees are common for mutual fund management companies and why the average fee has increased recently. I argue that Securities and Exchange Commission fee regulations make alternative fee types illegal or unattractive. Management companies can maintain higher fees because regulations and brand‐name capital partly insulate them from competition and because investors cannot easily distinguish between performance‐oriented and marketing‐oriented fund companies. Index funds and unit investment trusts may offer competition to mutual funds in the future because they are designed to minimize management fees.

The relationship between cognitive development and attitudes toward a current political conflict was examined in a sample of 46 Polish politicians. This relationship was examined in a control group in a neutral condition and in an experimental group after participants were presented with a hostile attack on their position on the conflict. Politicians with less advanced cognitive skills tended to use competitive attitudes in both conditions. In contrast, those who possessed more advanced skills tended to use cooperative attitudes in the neutral situation; after the emotional attack, they tended to avoid further involvement in the conflict and sought to exit it. The key difference in participants' cognitive functioning was their ability to differentiate perspectives and to transcend their own point of view in the conflict.
