Field Education in the State of Tocantins has been the subject of studies in the academic field and has encouraged the development of research. This article is part of a broader study aimed at understanding the reality of the education offered to farmers in the state of Tocantins and aims to analyze the reality of schools located in rural areas in the region covered by the 13th Regional Education Board located in Arraias , TO. Inspired by the qualitative research, information about the reality of schools was sought in the databases of the MEC, IBGE, INEP, State and Municipal Departments of Education of the State of Tocantins, with emphasis on the number of enrollments. The results indicate that the rural population of Tocantins is quite significant, linking the number of students enrolled in the process of nucleation of schools, causing the rural students to migrate to the urban environment, which refers to the transposition of the urban model, Not taking into account what is recommended in the Operational Guidelines for Basic Education in the Field Schools.

Rural Education has been a very problematic topic in Brazilian education in recent years. Although it has made significant progress in recent years through the creation of programs such as PRONERA and PROCAMPO, it has been facing numerous challenges regarding the access and retention of young and adult peasants at university. From a bibliographic and empirical perspective, this research aims to present an understanding of Rural Education as an education focused on the specificities of the people who live and work in the countryside, having as parameter the experience with UFT LEDOC in Tocantins. For data analysis, the study followed the perspective of Historical and Dialectical Materialism. The indigenous, the quilombola, the riverside, the settler, those affected by dams, the family farmer, the extractivist, among others who live and produce their material survival conditions in the countryside, go to the university not because they are obliged, but because they have an interest and need to learn. To access and attend university is to study in a place that was historically denied to them. It is facing a reality that excludes them, in order to overcome it. Finally, we consider that the materiality of the LEDOC courses at the Federal University of Tocantins configures a recent reality in the Brazilian educational reality and constitutes a new modality of graduation conquered from the demands of the social movements, whose expansion took place primarily in the governments of presidents Lula and Dilma.

Este estudo é parte integrante de um projeto mais amplo em que se analisa a realidade da Educação do Campo no Estado do Tocantins e tem como objetivo analisar o contexto do funcionamento do Curso de Licenciatura em Educação do Campo (LEdoC) na UFT, campus Arraias. O estudo foi realizado em três etapas, na primeira foram realizados estudos para o aprofundamento de nossos conhecimentos acerca da temática; na segunda realizamos um estudo no Projeto Pedagógico do Curso (PPC) da LEdoC/Arraias e em pesquisas realizadas a partir do referido curso; a terceira consistiu da realização de entrevistas a partir de um questionário com 10 perguntas abertas respondido por 03 (três) professores protagonistas no processo de implantação do curso. Os resultados indicam que se trata de um curso em alternância, cujos estudantes foram organizados, considerando a proximidade geográfica de moradia, em Comunidade Integradoras. Consideram-se os tempos formativos Universidade (meses de janeiro e julho) e Comunidade (fevereiro a junho e agosto a dezembro), cujo desenvolvimento das atividades são acompanhadas por meio de instrumentos didático-pedagógicos (diário de classe, produção individual e coletiva, fichas de auto-avaliação dos educandos, ficha de parecer individual, seminários de auto avaliação). O Curso conta com uma série de desafios a serem enfrentados, tanto em relação a infraestrtura como em relação a prática da alternância, de modo a garantir a continuidade efetiva dos estudos, especialmente no tempo Comunidade.
