In 2022, a series of finds characterising the early history of the city of Kostroma was revealed on the territory of the town of the first Kostroma Kremlin, in close proximity to the Volga River, where the groundwater level is particularly high (the so-called wet cultural layer). The excavation site identified the location of the wooden Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with side chapels, which had first been mentioned in the Scribe's Book of 1629, as well as the stockade separating the church territory with the necropolis from the Assumption Lane. The stockade, made of stakes dug in close to each other, was revealed literally two meters from the church, and immediately behind it is the wooden pavement of the pre-regular Assumption Lane. A medieval necropolis has been identified between the stockade and the church, on the church territory. Later, in 1783, a stone church of the same name was erected on the site of the wooden church. It is noteworthy that some finds also give an idea of how the funeral rites changed with the adoption of Christianity among the local population.

Two types of initial powders were used. The first one was nanosized powder prepared by precipitation method. In the second case we used microsized powders and mechanical admixturing the oxides of intended dopant. In both cases doping by the trivalent ions lead to a significant quenching of ZnO visible emission and an increase in near-band-edge luminescence. The study has shown that the type of dopant greatly affects the transmittance of ceramics prepared from nano- and micro sized powders. Several reasons for the specific effect of powder preparation process and a type of introduced dopant, including changes in dopant solubility, their interaction with the grain boundaries, etc., were considered. © 2021 The Author(s). Metabolic and stoichiometric theories of ecology have provided broad complementary principles to understand ecosystem processes across different levels of biological organization. We tested several of their cornerstone hypotheses by measuring the nucleic acid (NA) and phosphorus (P) content of crustacean zooplankton species in 22 high mountain lakes (Sierra Nevada and the Pyrenees mountains, Spain). The P-allocation hypothesis (PAH) proposes that the genome size is smaller in cladocerans than in copepods as a result of selection for fast growth towards P-allocation from DNA to RNA under P limitation. Consistent with the PAH, the RNA:DNA ratio was >8-fold higher in cladocerans than in copepods, although 'fast-growth' cladocerans did not always exhibit higher RNA and lower DNA contents in comparison to 'slow-growth' copepods. We also showed strong associations among growth rate, RNA, and total P content supporting the growth rate hypothesis, which predicts that fast-growing organisms have high P content because of the preferential allocation to P-rich ribosomal RNA. In addition, we found that ontogenetic variability in NA content of the copepod Mixodiaptomus laciniatus (intra- and interstage variability) was comparable to the interspecific variability across other zooplankton species. Further, according to the metabolic theory of ecology, temperature should enhance growth rate and hence RNA demands. RNA content in zooplankton was correlated with temperature, but the relationships were nutrient-dependent, with a positive correlation in nutrient-rich ecosystems and a negative one in those with scarce nutrients. This paper discusses the characteristics of ZnO and ZnO:Ga ceramics fabricated by uniaxial hot pressing. The short-wavelength transmission limit of zinc oxide ceramics is in the 370-nm region; the long-wavelength limit is determined by the free-charge-carrier concentration and lies in the interval from 5 to 9 μm. The total transmittance of such ceramics in the visible and near-IR regions is about 70% when the sample is 0.5 mm thick. The luminescence spectrum is represented by a broad emission band with maximum at 580 nm, having a defect nature. The introduction of 0.03–0.1 mass % gallium into the zinc oxide structure inhibits grain growth and increases the free-charge-carrier concentration to 3.44 × 1019 cm−3.
