Margaret S. Archer and Pierpaolo Donati have independently developed relational approaches in the social sciences. Combining morphogenetic theory and the relational theory of society opens up new research perspectives. This article attempts to investigate relational conceptions of culture by answering two questions: one related to the nature of culture and the other to the place of culture in relational sociology. Assuming the complementarity of the theories of both sociologists, the possibility that their conceptions may be inconsistent or even contradict each other is not discounted. The article discusses the issue of symbolization and the presence of processes of semiosis within relational sociology. It is argued that apart from the Cultural System and the Socio-Cultural interaction assumed by Archer's analytical dualism, a more general category of Cultural Reality can be introduced. This theme is further discussed in the light of Donati's views on human reality; he postulates including the relational frame of symbolization. Analysis shows that culture occupies a central place in relational sociology. This article exposes the complexity of the nature of culture in human reality.

W szkicu mowa jest o rywalizacji pomiędzy różnymi rodzajami wiedzy. Ingerencja ze strony postmodernistycznej teorii społecznej w obszar teologii jest szczególnie interesująca. W centrum uwagi pozostają obecne trendy postmodernistycznego postsekularyzmu. Teologia, wskutek przemian, jakie w niej zachodzą, w ponowoczesności ułatwia związek z teorią społeczną, gdyż teologia także przejawia się w postaci postsekularnej. W obszarze teologii widoczny jest wpływ nauk społecznych i nauk o kulturze, jako że problemy społeczno-kulturowe przedstawiane są jako problemy teologiczne. Teologia polityczna, teologia wyzwolenia, teologia rewolucji i teologia feministyczna są ściśle powiązane z teologią porównawczą, w której refleksja nad pluralizmem religijnym przedstawia się jako najważniejsze zagadnienie. Diagnoza wielu odmian teologii światowej, która rozkwitła w latach sześćdziesiątych XX wieku, ukazuje interesujący aspekt tych problemów. Zsekularyzowana teologia spotyka się z teologizującą postsekularną teorią społeczną ponad i poza socjologią. Ułatwia to nieustanny dyskurs niejednoznaczności. W tym dyskursie "teologia" jest nośnikiem nieokreślonego znaczenia – "czegoś teologicznego"; innymi słowy, teologia nie jest tym samym, co teologia tradycyjna. Teoria społeczna nie jest teorią, lecz praxis, która używa terminu "teoria społeczna" w modernistycznym opakowaniu konotacyjnym nauki racjonalności, ale bez zobowiązania do utrzymania obiektywności poznania. Socjologia nie narusza zróżnicowanej kulturowej tkanki znaczeń, badając je w społecznych kontekstach. Nie ingeruje zatem w dyskurs teologiczny, choć może analizować go dla swo- ich celów poznawczych, pozostawiając wszakże to, co pozaświatowe, poza swą perspektywą analizy zjawisk społeczno-kulturowych. Socjo-teologiczny dyskurs niejednoznaczności zwraca się zarówno przeciw religii, jak i racjonalności nauki społecznej.

International audience ; The social experience of time is investigated in connection with the transformation of global power relations expressed symbolically. Collective memory in postmodernity is featured as a temporal distinctiveness of the global age. Consequently, problems of the politics of memory, followed by conflicts of memory come to the fore. Symptomatic for postmodernity in the context of globalization is the phenomenon of reshaping problems of memory into social problems. The global politics of memory and globalizing symbolic conflicts over memory are a new phenomenon. They are exemplified by the problems of memory in post-communist countries, with the focus on the case of Poland.
