Second wave of COVID-19 had already swept India after its initial hit of the pandemic and definitely there will be a third wave of corona virus disease (Covid-19) in India once the Omicron variant starts replacing Delta as the dominant strain, according to members of the National Covid-19 Supermodel Committee .Lockdown imposed in country since 2020 with closure of all educational institutions has significantly changed the perspective of education in near future and a paradigm shift has been witnessed in the education sector during lockdown as e-learning came to the forefront, across the world with students and teachers have been forced to adapt to e-learning leaving the traditional classroom teaching, which they were not prepared for. As a result, a total of 320 million learners in India have been affected and moved into the e-learning industry, which includes a network of 1.5 million schools. With huge regional and household disparities in access to the internet and technology, many students and educators are reluctant to this transition. This situation has sparked a debate about whether e-learning is a good alternative to classroom learning. This paper aims to analyse how adversely did COVID-19 pandemic effected the education system of India and identify the arising gaps in transition from traditional to online learning and teaching process with addressing the efforts of Government of India to mobilize and support learning continuity and mitigate the impact of school closures, address learning losses and adapt education systems.

Building on the ideals of pacifism, in the early years, India's foreign policy posturing at international forums demonstrated its keen interest in promoting universal human rights. The agenda of eradicating torture emerged at the United Nations (UN) in 1945 in response to the state atrocities and war crimes committed during the Second World War. The UN acted as an arena for diplomatic deliberations between multifarious actors that led to the emergence and global recognition of the norm against torture. At the UN, India was ideationally inclined toward building a robust human rights regime and actively participated in the making of corresponding international norms. However, India's diplomatic zeal toward 'norm-making' at the UN was often followed by a lukewarm approach toward human rights. Taking the case of the development of the norm against torture, the article aims to evaluate India's evolving human rights diplomacy at the UN. By tracing India's historical stance on human rights and examining its formal interactions at the UN on the issue of torture, it seeks to evaluate India's role in the formation of an international regime against torture. The article further seeks to critically analyze India's evasive response at the UN and the implications of its failure to ratify the Convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (1984) or the Torture Convention.

Keeping up with the Kardashians depicts the lives of the Kardashian clan through reality television. The unparalleled success of five sisters managed by their mother has only continued to increase over time along with their participatory self-surveillance through their formidable use of social media. In recent years, a focus on health and wellbeing has led the sisters to endorse products for weight loss and health, using their bodies as spaces of commodification and advertisement online. The family's interaction with the camera, and the aesthetics of their social media cross-promotions combine to present an open "honest" front promoting the replication of their success and beauty for their audiences. The sisters engage with blackness in a way that bolsters their claims of capacitating and beautifying white feminine subjects, engagements now commonly termed "blackfishing." This article analyzes how the Kardashians have created an intense regime of self-surveillance, even dabbling self-consciously in the carceral state's techniques for surveilling blackness, to construct themselves as both uncommonly, exotically sexual ('baring all') and respectable enough (white or white passing) to sell various remedies with dubious health value.

The objective was to understand the performance differences of heavy and light media multitaskers. Further, the differences across media multitasking groups when the subjects are performing a cognitive task in the presence of music were studied to understand the role of music in cognitive performance in terms of cognitive control. A sample of 300 girl students from the Government schools of Chandigarh in the age range of 14-18 years (mean age= 15.7 years) was taken for the purpose. The media multitasking questionnaire (Ophir et al., 2009) and the Stroop task (Stroop, 1935) were used. The two media multitasking groups, viz., heavy and light media multitaskers, significantly differed from each other. Media multitasking and cognitive control were found to be linked and the role of music indicated facilitating trend for performance. Studies conclude high levels of media multitasking result in poor cognitive performance in terms of cognitive control and music plays a facilitative role for such media multitasker's cognitive control.

Perhaps one of the greatest public health challenges of the 21st century is managing the health of populations in the context of rapid urbanization and the growth of slums in the cities of the global south. Slums are characterized by insecure residential status, poor structural quality of housing, overcrowding, and inadequate access to safe water, sanitation, and other infrastructure. Currently, 828 million people live in slums--growing, living and working in conditions that threaten their health. Demographers predict that in the next 30 years, the urban population in the cities of the global south will double, further compounding the problem. Slum dwellers experience poor health as a result of a complex and intertwined set of social, economic, physical and political factors, a fact underscored by a growing body of research demonstrating health disparities between slum dwellers and their urban counterparts. In order to address the challenge of poor health in slums, global public health practitioners must be prepared to grapple with these complexities, both in terms of analyzing how health is shaped and in terms of responding to the factors that shape health in such places.In this dissertation, I contribute to a growing body of knowledge focused on analyzing and responding to health in informal settlements. In the following papers, I describe health in informal settlements, drawing from the literature to describe slum specific social determinants of health. I probe deeper into understanding health in slums by using empirical data and employing the relational framework to analyze health in a specific place, the Mathare informal settlement in Kenya. Here, I examine which living conditions matter for health and how, integrating the voices of slum dwellers to better understand how health is shaped. I find that health in slums is a function of complex and interrelated social, economic, physical and political factors. I take a similar approach in exploring microsavings, a potential response to the complex determinants of health in slums. First, I draw from the literature to develop a theory for how microsavings may play a role in addressing health in slums, and delve deeper into how this may occur by conducting a case study examining four microsavings groups in Mathare. I find that microsavings has the potential to build health in informal settlements through five specific pathways: facilitating empowerment, building community, creating information and action networks, amplifying the voice of the poor, and building financial strength.

Purpose
This study acknowledges the existing digital divide in India, particularly for marginalised populations, and highlights the need for exceptional attention to address their unique needs, challenges and demands. Although previous research and policies have primarily focused on physical access and internet skills, this study shifts the focus to the outcomes of internet use. By understanding how older adults in marginalised communities incorporate the internet into their daily routines, this study aims to contribute to the development of an operational framework that charts the disadvantages of the digital divide.


Design/methodology/approach
The study draws from Helsper's (2015) internet outcomes framework to identify the outcomes that older adults can derive from being online. By using a qualitative approach, the study seeks to understand how educational and economic backgrounds influence internet usage among older adults and how this can promote advantageous internet use.


Findings
The findings indicate that highly educated individuals are more likely to experience positive outcomes across various societal domains than their less educated counterparts. However, it was observed that the highly educated participants also try to limit the impact of internet use on their personal lives by intentionally disconnecting from the internet whenever possible.


Research limitations/implications
By offering programmes and interventions to encourage internet use and improve digital skills, as well as by enhancing digital accessibility and incentive systems, the government should go forward with its plan to close the outcomes gap in internet use among older adults. For policymakers, it turns the spotlight on creating an environment conducive to the digital inclusion of older adults, consistent with sociocultural structures.


Originality/value
This study contributes to understanding the nuanced dynamics of internet use among older adults, shedding light on the role of educational background and sociocultural factors in shaping internet outcomes. It highlights the need to consider qualitative approaches in digital inequality research to capture the complexities underlying the digital divide.

All other parts of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in any country are governed by the political and legal aspects of the system. This study examines the integrated effect of the entrepreneurial ecosystem's political-legal subsystem on the performance of MSEs based on system theory and the mediating role of entrepreneurial competence, based on a resource-based view. There has been no detailed examination of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of MSEs in Africa in general, and Ethiopia in particular. Although the political-legal aspects of the entrepreneurial ecosystem have a major effect on both entrepreneurial competency and MSE's performance, the relationship between entrepreneurial competencies and MSE performance was found to be insignificant. The role of entrepreneurial competency in mediating the relationships between policy and business performance and other business environments and business performance was shown to be insignificant. The study suggests that the policies designed by the government for MSEs should be flexible enough to affect other aspects of the entrepreneurial environment, such as the economic and social dimensions. Finally, additional studies in the field are encouraged to clarify the discrepancies in the findings concerning the relationships between entrepreneurial competencies and the performance of SMEs.

The governments and private sectors have taken several national or regional digital literacy training programs (DLTPs) to mitigate digital inequalities. However, there are noticeable differences in impact and outcomes produced by programs. Since digital literacy is essential for any technical vocational education and training (TVET), this study explores possible barriers influencing the effectiveness of DLTPs at different level levels. Relevant publications were synthesized and coded using a systematic literature review to link main research findings with specific barrier categories. It was found that at the administrative level, policy planning and administrative designing, whereas at the training level, infrastructure followed by training and pedagogy emerged as the most critical determinants for the effectiveness of DLTPs. At an individual level, lack of family support significantly affects learning behavior. A strategic model for the effective implementation of DLTPs is provided. This study constitutes an essential input for research on the digital literacy training literature providing educators and program stakeholders with a reinforced understanding of various ways to manage DLTPs at different levels. Consequently, it closes some identified knowledge gaps and offers additional insights to improve the DLTPs performance at the community level.

Socially responsible investment (SRI) is a contemporary idea to describe investing that incorporates social, ethical and environmental dimensions. Under the Theory of Planned Behaviour lens, the current study examines the role of attitude, subjective norm, perceived control behaviour and moral norms in explaining retail investors' investment intention towards SRI. The study adopted the quantitative approach of research and gathered the required data using the judgmental sampling method. This research uses structural equation modelling to present a model that better explains the role of attitude, subjective norm, perceived control behaviour and moral norms in understanding retail investors' investment intentions for SRI. The current study proposes and successfully validates the use of subjective financial literacy as a perceived control behaviour variable in studying the investment intention of SRI. The finding suggests that retail investors' intention to invest in SRI is significantly positively influenced by attitude, subjective norms, moral norms and subjective financial literacy.

That is why it has been so painful to see how tourism has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond the immediate pain of the pandemic, we should not miss the chance to make full use of the crisis. For the tourism sector in India, it is no longer going to be business-as-usual and we will need to redefine, refocus and change the game plan going forward. It is essential to measure the impact of Covid-19 and prepare a cogent strategy involving both the government and the industry stakeholders, which can be categorised into three phases: Survive (short-term), revive (medium-term) and thrive (long-term). We will see a trend towards taking cognisance of environmental costs beyond economic costs; destinations that will move towards a zero carbon footprint along with higher levels of hygiene; tour operators and hoteliers gravitating towards more responsible and meaningful experiences through minimising food miles; showcasing the local for the global; and positioning the host community as the centrepiece of the tourist experience.
