Nous avons mesuré à l'aide d'un sondage sur un échantillon étudiant le lien entre les préférences musicales et les attitudes politiques, une première dans le contexte québécois. Nous observons que le lien entre les préférences musicales et les attitudes politiques est faible. Néanmoins nos résultats indiquent qu'une appréciation pour des genres musicaux « plus politiques » (rock, métal, hip-hop, folk) est associée à l'évaluation par les participants de certains partis fédéraux/provinciaux et à certaines attitudes politiques (intérêt politique, idéologie et conservatisme économique). La force de cette relation n'est pas affectée par l'implication musicale des participants. Nous observons également que la nature de cette relation est semblable aux États-Unis et au Québec.

The aim of this article is to understand to which extent musicians rely on the imagination of the utopian/dystopian universe in 20th century popular music and how it politically influences the listeners. Firstly, we will explore the philosophical world in order to understand the link between music philosophy and utopia, secondly, we will investigate what is the political message behind these utopias and how they are musically expressed. Finally, we will try to understand how it could politically impact the listeners. We observe that this influence depends of the musical expression of utopian thought, if the musicians express the utopian universe in an "elusive" perspective the interpretation of the utopia will be different than a utopian universe presented in a "concrete" perspective.

AbstractWhile some candidates use music in some of their campaign ads to shape individuals' perceptions of their competence or compassion, for example, it is unclear whether the relationship between music and trait perceptions is empirically valid. Considering the importance of knowing where trait perceptions—which represent important determinants of the vote—come from and the extent to which it is possible to manipulate trait perceptions by means of music, this study investigates the effect of music on trait perceptions using data from an online survey experiment conducted between October 30 and November 12, 2020. In this experiment, 362 individuals were exposed to a random sequence of five campaign ads, either with their original music or with no music. Following each campaign ad, individuals were asked to evaluate the candidate's competency, honesty, leadership, and compassion. The analyses reveal that music marginally affects perceptions of competency, honesty, and leadership. Moreover, music exerts no significant effect on perceptions of compassion.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus was first identified in Wuhan, China, in late December 2019, and it quickly spread to many countries. By March 2020, the virus had triggered a global pandemic (World Health Organization, 2020). In response to this crisis, governments have implemented unprecedented public health measures. The success of these policies will largely depend on the public's willingness to comply with new rules. A key factor in citizens' willingness to comply is their understanding of the data that motivate government action. In this study, we examine how different ways of presenting these data visually can affect citizen's perceptions, attitudes and support for public policy.

There is perennial debate in comparative politics about electoral institutions, but what characterizes this debate is the lack of consideration for citizens' perspective. In this paper, we report the results of an original survey conducted on representative samples in 15 West European countries ( N = 15,414). We implemented an original instrument to elicit respondents' views by asking them to rate "real but blind" electoral outcomes. With this survey instrument, we aimed to elicit principled rather than partisan preferences regarding the kind of electoral outcomes that citizens think is good for democracy. We find that West Europeans do not clearly endorse a majoritarian or proportional vision of democracy. They tend to focus on aspects of the government rather than parliament when they pass a judgment. They want a majority government that has few parties and enjoys wide popular support. Finally, we find only small differences between citizens of different countries.
