Desde principios del siglo XX, muchos autores han intentado relacionar el origen del pensamiento griego con las transformaciones sociales o políticas que se produjeron con la irrupción de la polis antigua. Cornford veía una proyección de la estructura del comportamiento social, Jaeger, una analogía, y Vernant, una analogía de estructura del proceso de geometrización del espacio urbano. En este artículo, abordaré los problemas de analizar esta relación bajo el concepto de analogía, y propondré un enfoque alternativo basado en la distinción entre los conceptos de espacio y lugar defendida por el filósofo australiano Jeff Malpas. Mi propuesta se complementa con algunos aspectos relacionados con la antropología comparada de Marcel Detienne, y se traduce en una metodología de investigación que propone abordar el problema del inicio de la sabiduría a través del concepto de matrices de pensamiento. ; Since the beginning of the twenty century, many scholars have tried to find a link between the origins of Greek thought and the political and social transformations that took place with the emergence of ancient cities. Cornford interpreted this relationship as a projection of the structure and behaviour of human society, Jaeger, as analogy, and Vernant, as a «analogie de structure» with the geometrization of urbane space. In this paper, I will deal with the problem of analysing this relationship under the analogy concept, and I will propose a new approach based on the distintion between the space and place concepts proposed by the Australian philosopher Jeff Malpas. My research proposal is complemented with some aspects related to the Comparative Anthropology and the Detienne's ideas. I will propose a research methodology that try to deal with the windom's origin through the concept of Matrix of Thought.

During the period of transition from 6th century BC to 5th century BC, Magna Graecia experienced great social and political transformations. The rise of tyranny and the early democratic progress produced an erosion of the aristocracy's power and the consecration of the Sanctuary of Delphi as the foremost source of legitimacy for this new political centrality. The case of Metapontion provides a special opportunity to observe this process, because we have several sources, including a Herodotus story, that allow us to analyze the form of Delphic cult crystallized among the metapontians. The highest expression of this cult was the temenos of Apollo and Aristeas, that I provide an interpretation in this paper, supplemented by a possible identification of a base that had formed part of the monumental complex and would be represented in the numismatic record. This base is currently in the facilities of the Parco Archeologico dell'area urbana di Metaponto. ; Durante la transición del siglo VI al siglo V a.C. la Magna Grecia experimentó grandes transformaciones sociales y políticas. El ascenso de la tiranía y los primeros avances democráticos produjeron una erosión del poder de la aristocracia y la consagración del Santuario de Delfos como la principal fuente de legitimidad de esta nueva centralidad política. El caso de Metaponto nos ofrece una oportunidad privilegiada para observar este proceso, ya que disponemos de varias fuentes, incluido un relato de Heródoto, que nos permiten acceder a la forma en la que el culto délfico cristalizó entre los metapontinos. La máxima expresión de este culto fue el temenos de Apolo y Aristeas, del que se ofrece una interpretación en este artículo, completada por la posible identificación de una base que habría formado parte del conjunto monumental y estaría representada en el registro numismático. In the beginning of 1980's Michel Foucault lectured on «παρρησία» at the Collège de France. Foucault's lectures have become an important new way to interpret the parrhesía notion, from the political and philosophical point of view. Basically, Foucault distinguishes between a political parrhesía of democratic nature and a philosophical parrhesía whose origin can be traced to Plato. In this paper I focus my analysis on the political parrhesía, and I try to prove that Foucault's definition of this concept is not in accordance with the Democratic Thinking of Ancient Athens. According to Foucault, parrhesía is a «une parole d'au-dessus», a discourse spoken from above. However, an alternative interpretation of ancient sources can prove that in reality the parrhesía is a discourse spoken from below. Contrary to what Foucault maintains, the works of Euripides, Demosthenes, Isocrates, and other authors contribute toward finding a popular root in the parrhesía, that it should be defined as the dignity of the popular speech. ; A principios de los años ochenta, Michel Foucault impartió unas lecciones sobre la «παρρησία» en el Collège de France. Las lecciones de Foucault se convirtieron en una importante nueva interpretación de la noción de parresía. Básicamente, Foucault distingue entre una parresía política de naturaleza democrática y una parresía filosófica cuyo origen podría ser trazado hasta Platón. En este artículo concentro mi análisis en la parresía política, e intento demostrar que la definición de Foucault de este concepto no se corresponde con el pensamiento democrático de la antigua Atenas. Según Foucault, la parresía es «une parole d'au-dessus», una palabra de arriba. Sin embargo, una interpretación alternativa de las fuentes antiguas puede demostrar que en realidad la parresía es una palabra de abajo. Al contrario de lo que sostiene Foucault, las obras de Eurípides, Demóstenes, Isócrates y otros autores contribuyen a encontrar una raíz popular en la parresía, que debería ser definida como la dignidad de la palabra del pueblo.

The aporia resulting from Horkheimer and Adorno's critique of the Dialectic of Enlightenment has been raised after the hermeneutic turn of the tradition started by Nietzsche and Heidegger. Essentially it proposes a new Western philosophy beginning, starting from the ontological duality established by the presocratics and maintained by Aristotle against the monological reason of Plato's teachings. Starting from a new point of view on the Nicomachean and Eudemian ethics, the author puts forward a critique of modern views on Aristotle's virtue theory, including MacIntyre, in order to propose a new approach to connect the practice of virtue to radical democracy. ; La aporía de la dialéctica de la Ilustración ha sido replanteada después de Horkheimer y Adorno por el giro hermenéutico de la tradición que nace con Nietzsche y Heidegger, y que básicamente propone un nuevo comienzo de la filosofía occidental volviendo a la raíz de la dualidad ontológica establecida por los presocráticos y sostenida por Aristóteles frente a la razón monológica de la Academia de Platón. A partir de una nueva interpretación de las éticas Eudemia y Nicomaquea, el autor afrontará una crítica de las visiones modernas de la teoría aristotélica de la virtud, incluida la de MacIntyre, para exponer un nuevo enfoque que vincula la práctica de la virtud con la democracia radical.

Scholars have generally analysed Empedocles' criticism of sacrifices through a Pythagorean interpretation context. However, Empedocles' doctrinal affiliation with this school is problematic and also not needed to explain his rejection of the 'unspeakable slaughter of bulls.' His position is consistent with the wisdom tradition that emanated from the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi, an institution that underwent significant political and religious changes at the end of the 6th Century B.C., the impact of which was felt all over Magna Graecia. The ritual practice of sacrifice played an important role in Delphi, but the sanctuary also gave birth to a school of wisdom that was highly critical of the arrogance (hybris) of large sacrifices. Asocio-cultural analysis of the Akragas of the first half of the 5th Century B.C. provides new arguments that support this interpretation. The work of Empedocles contains more evidence of being influenced by the Delphi school of wisdom than by Orphism or Pythagoreanism.
