AbstrakSaat ini para pengguna media dan layanan berbasis Internet dibius oleh ilusi kebebasan berekspresi dan kemudahankomunikasi melalui berbagai layanan berbasis "user generated content", namun sesungguhnya mereka menukarhak akses terhadap berbagai layanan tersebut dengan hilangnya privasi terhadap data-data pribadi. Privasi dankebebasan berekspresi di ruang maya kini telah menjadi komoditas yang memiliki nilai ekonomi bagi kapitaliskapitalisjenis baru di ruang maya.Struktur industri komunikasi yang kini merambah pula media baru, yaitu media-media yang menggunakan Internetsebagai saluran distribusinya, mengalami perubahan cara pandang dan strategi dalam melakukan akumulasimodal. Melalui perantaraan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi moderen, para pemodal kini dapat melakukankustomasi produk yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan spesifik individu. Untuk itu informasi mengenai jati diripada level individu menjadi aset yang berharga bagi para pemodal. Institusi-institusi bisnis media dan layananonline kemudian menjadikan informasi mengenai karakteristik pengguna di level individu sebagai komoditas,selain akses untuk menjangkau para pengguna tadi.Kajian ekonomi politik dalam makalah ini berupaya menunjukkan bagaimana kebebasan berekpresi menjadikomoditas yang ditawarkan kepada para pengguna layanan internet, menggantikan konten sebagai pemikatutama bagi audiens media massa konvensional. Sementara itu para pengguna kehilangan privasi dan kendali atasdata-data pribadi yang dimilikinya, karena pengelola layanan online menawarkan hal itu kepada para pemodallain sebagai komoditas.Tulisan ini juga mencoba menunjukkan bahwa para kapitalis layanan online dengan dibantu media-mediakonvensional, mempromosikan trend untuk menggunakan kebebasan berekpresi, terkoneksi, dan berbagidengan orang lain melalui layanan-layanan online. Konsep hegemoni digunakan untuk menganalisa mengapaide mengenai masyarakat yang saling terkoneksi (networked society) diterima sebagai suatu konsekuensi logisdari kemajuan teknologi dan dianggap sebagai suatu kewajaran, walaupun sesungguhnya merupakan bagian dariideologi kapitalisme. However what they are doing in fact is to exchange their accessprivilege with the loss of their privacy rights towards their personal data. Privacy and freedom of expressionissues in cyber world are now becoming commodities that possess economy values for whom so-called new formof capitalists.Communication industries' structure, including those who explore new media business with the Internet as theinfrastructure, has been experiencing a change of perception and strategy in conducting capital accumulation.Throughout the modernization of information and communication technologies, investors now can do productcustomizations, which are adjusted to individual specific needs. For that reason the information about personalidentity became a valuable asset for those investors. Many institutions of media industry and online service thenbrought the information of users' characteristics in individual level as a commodity, as well as the access to reachthose individuals.The political economy analysis in this paper was used to show how the freedom of expression became a commoditythat was offered to the Internet users. It was brought up in order to substitute the value of content, the factorthat was constructed as the main attraction for audience within conventional mass media. On the other hand,the users are losing their privacy and control of their personal data, because online service providers have beenoffering those issues as commodities to the investors.This paper also tried to show that the online service capitalists, with the help of conventional media, have beenpromoting the trend to use the freedom of expression. The new trend is how people are connected and share theirexpression with others through online services. The concept of hegemony was used to analyze why the idea ofnetworked society was accepted as a logical consequence of the development of technologies and was regardedas a common thing, even though it was in fact a part of capitalism ideology.

Kajian ini menampilkan realitas semu tentang isu terorisme dan radikalisme terhadap pondok pesantren di Indonesia yang dikonstruksikan oleh tiga media siber Jawa Pos.com, Kompas.com, dan Republika.co.id selama pemberitaan edisi online tahun 2016. Tujuan penelitian ini mengungkap praktik jurnalisme relasi kuasa media dan mendorong masyarakat melakukan gerakan kritis dalam menyikapi konstruksi realitas media yang memberitakan isu terorisme dan radikalisme terhadap pondok pesantren. Studi ini menggunakan paradigma kritis dengan analisis wacana kritis (AWK) model Norman Fairclough melalui tiga level analisis, yakni deskripsi teks berita melalui analisis bahasa kritis, interpretasi subjektif peneliti terhadap praktik wacana ketiga media siber, dan eksplanasi kritis terhadap praktik sosiokultural media. Hasil studi ini mengungkapkan tiga realitas semu. Pertama, teks berita yang dikonstruksikan mencerminkan dominasi elit dalam mewacanakan isu terorisme dan radikalisme terhadap pondok pesantren. Kedua, produksi dan konsumsi teks berita berdasarkan kebijakan redaksi media yang berorientasi kepada kepentingan pasar sehingga realitas isunya menjadi kabur (semu). Ketiga, konstruksi realitas isu terorisme dan radikalisme terhadap pondok pesantren diwarnai kepentingan ideologi media, politik media, ekonomi media, dan budaya media. Terhadap realitas semu ini, peneliti menyarankan perlunya menggerakkan literasi media melalui jurnalisme pesantren. Produk jurnalisme pesantren menjadi media perlawanan terhadap isu ini dengan menampilkan pondok pesantren sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam rahmatan lil alamin yang menolak terorisme dan radikalisme.

Cases of snakebite resulting casualties have been found almost all over the world. In Indonesia, thereis only a few official information about them. However, the fact shows that the number of fatalitiesin Indonesia is considerably high. Approximately, more than 100,000 snakebite victims per year havebeen reported. The sparse data is caused by the lack of serious attention from all parties, includingthe government. As a result, there are so much misinformation and confusion regarding the handlingof snakebites amongst communities, including physicians. Snakebite Accident Indonesia is the onlyinformational service about snake bites available on social media platforms. The service in a formatof the Facebook closed group is the source of information that referred the most by snakebitevictims. However, communication conflicts frequently happen because of the heterogeneous of thisgroup where the members came from a variety of backgrounds and understandings. Thisphenomenon becomes the main interest of this study because the conflicts have affected the crucialefforts to handle snake bites that hang the life of people on a thread. By implementing the case studymethod, this research raises the anatomy of the communication conflict. The results indicate theinvolvement of primordialism, socio-cultural, economic, and psychological problems within theconflict. To overcome this problem, a communication system, especially concerning health issues, isneeded to bridge the dispute. The need is crucial because the conflicts must be minimized to supportcontinuous efforts of educating people.Keywords: communication conflicts, snake bites, facebook, world health organization, healthcommunication ; Kasus korban gigitan ular terjadi hampir di seluruh dunia. Menurut World Health Organization (WHO), setiap tahun ditemukan sekitar 150.000 orang meninggal karena gigitan ular. Sekitar 400.000 orang lainnya mengalami kecacatan, kelumpuhan, dan amputasi akibat penanganan yang salah terhadap gigitan ular baik berbisa maupun tidak. Di Indonesia, informasi resmi tentang gigitan ular hanya sedikit. Namun kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan jumlah korban gigitan ular di Indonesia tergolong tinggi dengan asumsi lebih dari 100.000 per tahun. Lemahnya data tentang gigitan ular ini diakibatkan belum adanya perhatian serius dari semua kalangan termasuk pemerintah. Sebagai akibatnya, banyak kesimpangsiuran informasi sehubungan dengan penanganan gigitan ular termasuk di kalangan medis. Snakebite Accident Indonesia merupakan satu-satunya wadah informasi tentang gigitan ular yang tersedia dalam platform media sosial. Grup tertutup Facebook ini menjadi sumber informasi yang paling sering dirujuk oleh korban gigitan ular. Namun, karena anggota grup ini berasal dari berbagai latar belakang dan pemahaman, sering terjadi konflik komunikasi di dalamnya. Hal ini menjadi menarik untuk dikaji karena konflik yang ada mempengaruhi upaya penanganan gigitan ular yang krusial dalam mempertahankan hidup para korban. Dengan metode studi kasus, riset ini mengangkat anatomi konflik komunikasi tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya masalah primordialisme, sosial budaya, ekonomi, serta psikologis. Untuk mengatasi konflik ini diperlukan sebuah sistem komunikasi yang secara kuat menjembatani perbedaan ini. Hal ini menjadi penting mengingat konflik yang ada harus diminimalisir untuk mendukung upaya edukasi kepada masyarakat secara berkesinambungan. As a result, conservation issues were neglected because the main purpose of the program was only to show the audience the luxury of the trip. One of the cases could be seen on "The Beautiful Adventurers" program on Trans7, which was aired on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018. This particular episode showed the hosts were consuming a "Kima", a kind of giant clams that is protected by the law. Harsh criticism from environmental activists spread on social media, even before the show ended. This study took this incident with an explanatory case study method to analyze it from the perspective of environmental communication. The results showed that the crew did not have awareness about the conservation issues and was more attracted by the tour guides' persuasion rather than following the regulations that have been established both by the Government and the international conventions. This study suggests Indonesian Broadcasting Commission include conservation material in the Broadcasting Standard Guidelines to persuade more specific regulation for similar programs on Indonesian televisions that support environmental communication and natural resource preservation.

The human-crocodile conflict frequently happens in Indonesia. Based on the data from http://www.crocodile-attack.info/, it is claimed that Indonesia is a country with the most cases of crocodile attacks. Mostly the attacks involved the saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). On the other hand, this conflict is worsened by the spread of inaccurate information among communities. From October 2019 to October 2021, there were 12 false stories about crocodile attacks. These hoaxes were distributed on social media, causing fear to those who consumed the information. It is crucial to be investigated, especially from the perspective of environmental journalism. This study describes how mainstream media outlets tried to clarify the hoaxes. The results show many materials contained by information disorder, which need to be clarified by the media to ensure clarity and truth for the public. This study finds that most mainstream media still have their conscience to protect the public from false information. It was done by practicing curation journalism that includes the discipline of verification. In conclusion, the media and information sources need to have a good comprehension of crocodile behavior. The research also catches the need for environmental journalism training for media practitioners in Indonesia. Thus, the media will be able to offer the best solution for reducing the attack while at the same time giving adequate education for the public to live in harmony with Indonesian flora and fauna.

A critical perspective was used to conduct the study using a case study method. Through the use of Vincent Mosco political economy theory of media, the authors conclude that Tribunnews.com, the cyber media news, and the object of this research, makes social media a commodity and a content distribution channel, by involving all parts of the newsroom to utilize social media (structuration). The commodification of content is carried out by making information on social media an initial source for news production. Audience commodification by using the followers of social media accounts as a source of income. This was achieved by offering social media accounts to the advertisers to put their advertisement on official social media accounts. Through the use of social media, journalists are used by Tribunnews.com for profit. Utilization is carried out by distributing journalists' work to social media, and to other cyber media news included in the media group—without providing additional wages. Spatialization was carried out by using social media as a means of news distribution or amplification. The goal is to reach readers who mostly get their information through the Internet, including through smartphones and social media. Structuration achieved through the formation of a team dedicated to managing the use of social media in the production and distribution of news.

The aim of this research study is to understand the effect of House of Representative members' role on democratic establishment while acknowledging the effect of aspiration absorption on the democratic establishment in constituent behavior during political socialization and to recognizing the effect of the members' role and aspiration absorption on the democratic establishment in Indonesia. We utilized a quantitative explanatory research method, wherein a survey was conducted to collect primary data. We found that House of Representative roles has an obvious, significant, and direct effect on the democratic establishment. The research also discusses significant practical and theoretical implications. Limitations of the study and future research directions have also been mentioned.

Hasrat menjadi legislator bukanlah sesuatu yang muncul secara tiba-tiba pada diri seorang perempuan, namun semuanya melalui proses pemikiran yang matang, Keinginan yang kuat dari dalam diri, memiliki kompetensi komunikasi politik yang baik dan baru menentukan pilihan dalam mengisi ruang publik. Selama ini politik diidentikkan dengan dunianya laki-laki, karenanya butuh motivasi yang kuat dari dalam diri calon legislator perempuan untuk mengisi ruang ini dan diperkuat dengan motivasi dari luar dirinya, ini yang kemudian akan membuat legislator perempuan akan mampu menjalankan tugas dan fungsinya dengan baik. Adapun Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Fenomenologi. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan Studi Kasus, kajian ini bermaksud untuk mendeskripsikan motivasi perempuan Aceh hadir di ruang publik dengan menjadi seorang legislator di dalam parlemen lokal Aceh. Hasil kajian menyimpulkan bahwa: 1). Ada dua motivasi yang mendorong perempuan Aceh untuk hadir dalam ruang politik dengan menjadi anggota legislatif dalam parlemen Aceh, yaitu motivasi interen dan motivasi ekstern. 2) motivasi interen itu adalah rasa empati, kesadaran pada perempuan akan pentingnya kehadiran mereka dalam politik dan pengalaman organisasi. 3). Motivasi eksteren itu adalah; motivasi emosional, motivasi sosial, motivasi agama, motivasi politik dan motivasi ekonomi.

Kesadaran tentang konservasi dan kegiatan ramah lingkungan perlu dipelajari secara komprehensif di semua tingkat pendidikan formal, terutama di sekolah menengah kejuruan yang terkait dengan industri pariwisata. Salah satu daerah potensial untuk mengembangkan pariwisata cerdas adalah Pangandaran, pantai populer di selatan Jawa Barat. Wilayah ini memiliki beberapa sekolah menengah kejuruan dengan program khusus dalam studi pariwisata. Sayangnya, pemerintah daerah Pangandaran tidak memiliki program khusus untuk menetapkan kurikulum yang memadai mengenai pengembangan pariwisata melalui pengembangan sumber daya manusianya. Penelitian ini melihat fenomena tersebut dengan melakukan studi kasus spesifik tentang konservasi terumbu karang di Pangandaran untuk menguraikan tentang tidak adanya konten spesifik tentang konservasi dalam kurikulum program pariwisata. Menerapkan studi kasus eksploratif yang dikembangkan oleh Robert K. Yin, penelitian ini mendistribusikan 37 kuesioner kepada siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Tunas Brilliant di Pangandaran, bersama dengan tinjauan dokumentasi tentang kebijakan yang dibuat oleh lembaga dan pemangku kepentingan terkait. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa orang-orang di Pangandaran, termasuk mereka yang khususnya belajar studi pariwisata, memiliki kesadaran yang rendah tentang keselamatan terumbu karang sebagai bagian dari pelestarian lingkungan. Situasi ini diperparah dengan tidak adanya bahan konservasi dalam kurikulum sekolah menengah kejuruan pariwisata yang berbicara tentang terumbu karang. Kurangnya pemahaman dalam konservasi telah mengancam keberlanjutan lingkungan Pangandaran, yang pada gilirannya akan menghambat pengembangan pariwisata di Pangandaran ; Consciousness about conservation and environment-friendly activity need to be learned comprehensively in any level of formal education, especially in a vocational high school that related to the tourism industry. One of the potential areas for developing smart tourism is Pangandaran, a popular coast in the south of West Java. This region possesses several vocational high schools with a particular program in tourism studies. Unfortunately, the regional government of Pangandaran has no specific programs to establish adequate curriculum regarding tourism development through the development of its human resources. This research sees the phenomenon by conducting a specific case study on coral reefs conservation in Pangandaran to elaborate on the absence of specific contents about conservation in tourism programs' curriculum. Applying an exploratory case study developed by Robert K. Yin, this study distributes 37 questionnaires to students of Tunas Brilliant Vocational High School in Pangandaran, along with documentation review about policies made by relevant agencies and stakeholders. The result shows that people in Pangandaran, including those who especially learn tourism studies, have low awareness on the safety of coral reefs as part of environmental conservation. This situation is worsened by the absence of conservation materials in tourism vocational high school's curriculum that speaks about coral reefs. The lack of understanding in conservation has threatened the sustainability of Pangandaran environment, which in turn will hinder the tourism development in Pangandaran.

The Indonesian government has informed television broadcasting industry since 2007 regarding the policy of migration from analog to digital technology by inviting television associations in joint meetings and discussion forums. However, the efforts that have been made by the government have not been able to make the television broadcasting industry have the same construction on the policy of television digitization to jointly realize it. This study aims to analyze and reveal the reality of the Indonesian government's communication to the television broadcasting industry regarding the policy on terrestrial television digitization. The method used is qualitative with the type of case study and constructivist paradigm. This study reveals that there is uncertainty with the reality of the Indonesian government's communication to the television broadcasting industry regarding terrestrial television digitization policies in 2007-2018, and there is no maximum time to explain issues about television digitization which are very technical. In addition, participatory communication is not fully carried out by the government to invite the television broadcasting industry to participate in the success of accelerating the terrestrial television digitization in Indonesia.
