The purpose of the article is to provide a scientific and analytical assessment of the social responsibility of an agricultural enterprise in the projection of determining the impact of its social capital on the implementation of the principles of corporate social responsibility. Research methods. The research used dialectical methods of cognition of processes and phenomena, monographic method (genesis of scientific achievements of domestic and foreign scientists on the problems of corporate social responsibility of agricultural enterprises), empirical method (on a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the object of study), comparative analysis and problems of implementation of the principles of social responsibility of business in the countries of the world and in Ukraine), abstract-logical (theoretical generalizations and formulation of conclusions). Research results. In the process of studying the development of corporate social responsibility the author's interpretation of its essence is formulated, the experience of advanced domestic and foreign companies on the implementation of its principles as the main business strategy is studied, its assessment for advanced domestic agricultural enterprises is made on the basis of improved methodology. The role of social capital in the implementation of corporate social responsibility is determined, as well as the institutional transformations in the field of its implementation, which affect the formation and use of social capital itself. Scientific novelty. Theoretical provisions for formulating the essence of the concept of corporate social responsibility have been further developed. Improved methods for assessing the level of social responsibility of agricultural enterprises. The causal links between social capital and corporate social responsibility are identified. Practical significance. Along with some positive developments in the implementation of corporate social responsibility, shortcomings in the practice of its dissemination have been identified. The research used dialectical methods of cognition of processes and phenomena, including the monographic method (analysis of scientific achievements of Ukrainian and foreign scientists on the problems of social capital development), abstract-logical (theoretical generalizations and conclusions), the method of hierarchy analysis (determining the significance of factors). forming social capital). Research results. The key concepts of the social capital are studied, the author's definition is formulated. The structuring of specific features of social capital has been carried out. Social capital is considered as a set of components (trust, norms, social networks), which act as a means of horizontal and vertical connection between the elements of the hierarchical system of the national economy and its individual areas of activity. Based on the application of the method of analysis of hierarchies, it is proved that the formation of social capital is most influenced by personal and family relations, institutional trust and living conditions. Scientific novelty. The author's definition of the concept of social capital is formulated, its specific features, features of manifestation at different levels of the hierarchical system of the national economy and its spheres, in particular agrarian, as well as the factors that have the greatest influence on its formation. Practical significance. The use of the obtained results will allow to determine the aspects of formation and use of social capital of the agrarian sphere as a kind of basis for the development of rural areas and agrarian entrepreneurship. The socio-economic importance of small forms of entrepreneurship in the national economic model has significantly increased. There was substantiated an existence of specific features of small rural enterprise development of the leading European countries, since farming is the basis of family agricultural business. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the concept of low-income family-labor enterprise. There were used methods to evaluate the results of production and economic activity of farms based on the alternative ways to estimate the labor costs for the production owners. The development trends of farms in the European Union and the dynamics of the income level of the members-farm owners were analyzed. There were established the peculiarities of the farm holdings development in Ukraine and the factors that determine the specifics of their sectoral diversification. The comparative analysis of the level of production efficiency for the main types of agricultural products among the agricultural enterprises and farms of Ukraine was carried out. The need to integrate the monetary compensation of labor costs of farm members-owners as a component of their resource potential was proved. The significance of the research results to ensure the effective economic activity of small forms in Ukraine was substantiated.
