Este trabajo de investigación, identifica las relaciones entre las características formales de los conjuntos funerarios y los procesos de integración política, sucedidos en el sur del Alto Magdalena durante los períodos Formativo y Clásico Regional, entre los siglos décimo antes de Cristo (X a.C.) y noveno después de Cristo (IX d.C.). La Investigación se guía por las ideas que discuten el papel de la ideología en la conformación de unidades políticas cacicales. Para su realización, se propone la comparación formal de unidades funerarias ubicadas al occidente de San Agustín con los conjuntos funerarios de las áreas centrales de Mesitas. La investigación se desarrollará con base en la información lograda en las excavaciones de ocho cementerios ubicados al sur y occidente del municipio de San Agustín; zona alejada o periferia de los grandes centros monumentales funerarios de Mesitas. Cada unidad funeraria será caracterizada de acuerdo a su cronología, estructura, ajuar funerario y asentamientos asociados y este conjunto de información se comparada con algunos registros arqueológicos de excavaciones arquitectura funeraria de Mesitas hechas en especial por los arqueólogos Luis Duque Gómez y Julio cesar Cubillo entre los años 1943 y 1983. / Abstract. This research identifies the relationship between the formal characteristics of the joint funeral and political integration processes, which occurred in the southern Upper Magdalena during the Formative and Classic periods Regional among tenth centuries before Christ (BC X) and ninth after Christ (IX AD). The research was guided by the ideas they discuss the role of ideology in shaping chiefly polities. To realize this, it is proposed that formal comparison of burial units located west of St. Augustín with the joint funeral of the central areas of Mesitas. The research will be developed based on the information obtained in the excavations of eight cemeteries located south and west of the town of San Augustin remote area or periphery of Mesitas the great monumental funeral centre.
