Sociologies of the future offer insights into how the future is apprehended by social actors and motivates their actions. Contemporary narratives of crises in the Anthropocene portray an increasingly likely future: one of future collective death. This article conceptualises collective death as a future that possesses both imaginary and material dimensions. I argue that future collective death generates various affective responses that prompt social coalitions to resist its realisation, and I exemplify it with two cases: Extinction Rebellion and Space Colonisation. I explore how futurelessness and grief motivate Extinction Rebellion's direct non-violent actions to fight against future collective death, while death anxiety and terminality drive Space Colonisation's attempts to flee from it. In doing so, I illustrate the role of imagination, affect and material means in configuring future-oriented socio-political action.

While there has been research focusing on security issues in Mexico in the context of the Mexican Drug War and the effects of violence on its population, little has been done to explore the relationship between public-official discourse, political practices and mourning at a societal level. Using the Logics of Critical Explanation (LCE) framework developed by Jason Glynos and David Howarth, and focusing on the notions of mourning and melancholia at a societal level, this paper argues that the conditions for mourning at a societal level have not been met in public-official discourse regarding the security policy and the Mexican Drug War, resulting in subjects experiencing blocked mourning. It views the Peace and Reconciliation Forums as a political logic that seeks to differentiate the approach taken by the incoming López Obrador administration in relation to security strategy formulation and attention tovictims and Human Rights' groups. It also argues that while the forums themselves have some attributes that could pave the way for successful mourning to occur, a comprehensive set of practices needs to materialize that addresses the concerns of violence-affected subjects ; University of Essex, Turku School of Economics (TSE)

This article draws upon discourse theoretical and psychoanalytical approaches to provide an overview on the potentiality of mourning as both a practice and a conceptual tool for the critical analysis of social and political phenomena. Within poststructuralist discourse theory, mourning has recently been considered a practice with the potential to engage in 'ideological critique'. In contrast, stunted mourning and melancholia have been associated with being under the 'grip of ideology', affected by hegemonic discursive narratives and practices. By providing examples ranging from national identity to unemployment and class resubjectivation, the argument is made that mourning is a useful practice and analytical tool for examining phenomena that result from the experience of dislocation, even when it is not death related. ; Fil: Hurtado Hurtado, Joshua. El objetivo de esta investigación es identificar los principales grupos de interés para la Fundación de Acción Social Cáritas, así como las convergencias y divergencias que tendrán con esta ONG en relación a sus retos para el año 2035. Para ello, se formó un panel de expertos a través del coeficiente de competencia de expertos K. Posteriormente, los 15 participantes seleccionados seleccionaron y filtraron los stakeholders o grupos de interés relevantes para la ONG con el apoyo del test estadístico W de Kendall. Una vez obtenido el listado de stakeholders, se desarrolló el método MACTOR para medir sus niveles de poder, alianzas y conflictos respecto a los nueve objetivos estratégicos de la Fundación de Acción Social Cáritas para el año 2035. Entre los principales hallazgos se identificaron 30 stakeholders con influencia sobre la Fundación de Acción Social Cáritas. Además, entre las alianzas más importantes se encuentran el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Movilidad Humana, Cooperantes Fraternos, Cáritas Internacionalis y Aliados Estratégicos. Por otro lado, los conflictos más destacados involucran a Cáritas Internacionalis, la Asamblea de Socios de la Fundación de Acción Social Cáritas, Profesionales externos a la Fundación de Acción Social Cáritas y Cooperantes Fraternos.
