Feste der Stadtöffentlichkeit werden zunehmend als Instrumente der Stadtentwicklung eingesetzt. Seit geraumer Zeit hat sich diese instrumentell ausgerichtete Politik der Festibalisierung mehr und mehr professionalisiert, dagegen flaute der Diskurs um eine krisitische Analyse der Festivalisierung der Politik ab.

Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird eine weitere Akzentverschiebung im Diskurs um die Koordination interpersonalen Handelns in der Ökonomie als eine Ausdifferenzierung der Governanceperspektive untersucht. Es werden insbesondere die Prozesse der Produktion von Wissen nicht nur hinsichtlich der institutionellen Bedingungen, sondern auch auf der Ebene der Interaktionen in Praktikergemeinschaften analysiert. Damit erhält ein seit mehr als hundert Jahren als "veraltet" geltender Governance-Modus - die Gemeinschaft (Tönnies) - eine neue Aktualität in der Wissensgesellschaft. Insgesamt wird argumentiert. dass sich im Zuge des Diskurses und im Zeitverlauf die relative Bedeutung der Koordinationsmechanismen Markt, Hierarchie, Netzwerk und Gemeinschaft sukzessive vom Erst- zum Letztgenannten verschoben hat, ohne dass jedoch dadurch einer der Governance-Modi überflüssig werden würde. Es wird zunächst der Forschungsstand zu den vier prominent diskutierten Modi der Governance ökonomischen Handelns dargestellt. Es werden dabei die Mechanismen erörtert, derer sich die jeweiligen Governance-Formen bedienen, nämlich Preis (Markt), Weisung (Hierarchie), Reziprozität (Netzwerk) und Teilen (Gemeinschaft). Es werden ferner die räumlichen Ausprägungen des jeweiligen Governance-Modus herausgearbeitet und ein Ausblick auf die nachfolgenden Beiträge des "Themenblocks "Beziehungs- und Interaktionsräume" gegeben. This paper juxtaposes two strategies to conceive human expertise and unveils how they mould our imaginations on the spatiality of innovation processes. While the noun 'knowledge' signifies a rationalistic approach and entails a geography that propels an 'argument of agglomeration', the verb 'knowing' denotes a situated-in-practice understanding and inheres an 'argument of place'. The paper discusses in how far an extension of the so far less influential practice view might complement the more traditional agglomeration accounts. The ontological discrepancies between both approaches can be used as theoretical springboards to more fully illuminate some key ambivalences of a geography of knowledge creation.

Crisis management is often conceived from the position of an omniscient narrator, albeit the general consensus that crises are subjectively interpreted and experienced. The paper makes an analytical attempt to de‐homogenize the notion of crisis. We argue that the perception of crises differs and present a spatial perspective on crisis to foreground the positionality of different actor groups. By referring to the EHEC outbreak 2011 in Germany, we explore two spatial configurations that seem to be of particular relevance: territories embedded in a nested hierarchy and topologies of interconnected places. State authorities think and act strongly in terms of territorial borders and along sectoral boundaries. From their point of view, the crisis tends to be threatening due to its "transboundary" character. Medical experts, in contrast, coped with the crisis in trans‐local networks of colleagues. For this group, the crisis was also an opportunity to substantially enhance professional knowledge.

Die Rolle von Schlüsselfiguren in sozialräumlichen Wandlungsprozessen ist bislang noch kaum erforscht. Wie kann der von Praktikern immer wieder thematisierte entscheidende Beitrag von einzelnen Personen zu komplexen Prozessen des Wandels sozialwissenschaftlich erklärt werden? Ziel dieses Beitrages ist es, aus verschiedenen disziplinären Zusammenhängen, vor allem den Politik- und Organisationswissenschaften, der Betriebswirtschaft und der Soziologie, Konzepte zu identifizieren, mit deren Hilfe Schlüsselfiguren definiert werden können und ihr Beitrag in Wandlungsprozessen begründet werden kann. Für die Typen "Leader", "Intermediär" und "Governance-Pionier" wird in heuristischer Weise herausgearbeitet, inwiefern der Einfluss von Schlüsselfiguren auch damit erklärt werden kann, wie sie im Raum agieren und wie sie räumlich verteilte Ressourcen mobilisieren. Raum, so wird argumentiert, kann Gegenstand und Ressource in Prozessen des sozialen Wandels sein.

The labor market for musical actors is very challenging for several reasons. On the one hand, it is difficult to acquire a position: qualification requirements are high, competition is fierce and reputation is difficult to build up. On the other hand, once in it is often necessary to get out: once being in, market demand for roles with a stage age above 45 drops dramatically and it becomes increasingly hard to stay healthy due to the threefold exposure to bodily strains of acting, dancing and singing. This labor market thus presents potentially interesting situations, in which the meaning of the concept resilience—in the sense of valuing preservation—can change fundamentally. While at the beginning of a career, the main challenge is often to adapt to market requirements, in the second half of a career it becomes increasingly important to become adaptable to a broader spectrum of opportunities, including exit scenarios. The paper generates empirically grounded ideal-typical accounts of the meaning of adaptation and adaptability for musical actors with a focus on the actors' networking strategies, their professional identities, and the corresponding ways of perceiving and creating spaces.

Wissen wird bereits seit längerem als die strategische Ressource, als einzig wirklich knapper Produktionsfaktor der modernen Ökonomie diskutiert. Das Spezifische einer Wissensökonomie liegt darin, dass das ökonomischem Handeln zugrundeliegende Wissen zum Gegenstand organisierter Wissensarbeit wird und sich dadurch weitaus schneller und grundlegender als in früheren historischen Phasen erneuert. Dieser Sammelband verfolgt zwei Ziele: Erstens wird aus der Perspektive verschiedener Disziplinen eine neue Zwischenbilanz gezogen. Es werden Erkenntnisse über die Arbeitspraktiken, Kooperations- und Organisationsformen sowie die institutionellen Regelungen gesichert. Auf dieser Basis kann dann nach neuen Entwicklungen und Dynamiken in der Expansion und Ausdifferenzierung einer wissensbasierten Ökonomie gefragt werden. Zweitens wird erkundet, inwieweit sich die Räumlichkeit von Wissensproduktion als ein verbindendes Element für den interdisziplinären Dialog eignet. Insbesondere wird das heuristische Potential der Kategorien "Nähe" und "Distanz" ausgelotet und die Mehrdimensionalität des Kategorienpaares erprobt.

This paper argues that the conceptions of "vulnerability" and "resilience", which have been strongly influenced by ecology and natural hazards research, have been widely used in an essentialist manner. Thus, vulnerability is treated as the factual susceptibility and resilience as the factual adaptive capacity of systems, which are measurable by certain indicators. Although in the meantime social dimensions have received greater consideration than previously and although both notions have been transferred to a wider field of phenomena ranging from technology to economy and society, the conception of vulnerability and resilience still lacks the dimension of the social construction of reality that implies that actors may develop different perceptions of potential threats and of the precautionary measures that are to be adopted—even though the nature of an endangerment seems clear and proven. In this contribution we identify major conceptual desiderata and suggest a social science based conception of vulnerability and resilience addressing them. We take up ideas from social constructivism in the form pointed out in actor-network theory. We dissolve the tired dichotomy between social and material entities and instead emphasise that all kinds of entities have the same ontological status and thus interact directly with one another on the same level ('flat ontology'). Against the background of a generic definition of governance, questions of agency in networks will be addressed. Based on a relational understanding of space, a spatial research perspective will be developed also taking into account the dimension of time. Finally the conception comprises an empirical strategy for investigating vulnerability and resilience.
