Local knowledge of the Sundanese community on traditional foods to enhance the family food security

Sundanese people in rural West Java have a rich the local knowledge on a variety of traditional foods. However, studies on the local knowledge of Sundanese rural communities on the variety of traditional foods are still rare. The objective of this article is to elucidate the local knowledge of Cijambu Village community, Tanjungsari Sub-district, Sumedang District, West Java, on the traditional foods. The method used in this study was qualitative with Gastronomic Ethnobiological approach. It may be defined as the study of the complex interactions between human societies, food, and their environment. The result of study showed that there are at least 26 types of traditional foods that are usually created by the local community of Cijambu Village. The producing of a variety of traditional foods is based on local knowledge of the rural people as a result of inheritance from one generation to another. The basic ingredients for creating a variety of traditional foods are mainly used various plants that are produced from village agroecosystem. At least 39 species of plants representing 21 families are predominantly used to create 26 types of traditional food of Cijambu village community. Almost all of those plants are obtained from the production of various village agroecosystems of Cijambu, including homegarden, upland field, and wet-rice fields. The existence of a variety of traditional foods in rural areas, in addition to maintaining the identity of the village traditional food cultures, is also important to support food security in rural areas.
Taman Keanekaragaman Hayati Hutan Pelawan Sebagai Media Pendidikan Keanekaragaman Hayati Lokal di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung
Biodiversity Park in Central Bangka Pelawan Forest is one of the park that uses the concept of in-situ conservation in its conservation category. The development of this park was initiated by the Regional Government of Central Bangka Regency which aims to protect local biological resources, specifically the Pelawan Merahtree (Tristaniopsis merguensis). This area was designated as a park with three priority functions: ecotourism, education and research. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the educational function has been carried out properly in accordance with the initial purpose of the construction of this park. The method used is a mixed method with data collection techniques through interviews and questionnaires, the selection of respondents was carried out by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that only 18.18% visited the park as a place of learning, the most objective of visitors was for recreation (56.82% ), visitors who are aware of the use of the park in (53, 64%) . The visitors (62,37 %) also think that facilities must be added, including information boards, leaflets or brochures to convey knowledge of biodiversity and visitors (92,27%) said the importance of the attendance of officials as informants to convey knowledge and information related to biodiversity in the park

KAJIAN PENJAJAKAN DESA BINAAN: RANTAU BINUANG SAKTI
In order to make a decision on the possibility to determine Rantau Binuang Sakti to be an established village of the Islamic University of Riau, a reconnaissance study have conducted as a field study in the mid-January 2015. As an origin of traditional village, which has been famous since in the mid 16th century, but the village are closed and isolated due to bad infrastructure conditions and seemingly rural development program has not yet been in touch to the village, by regency as well as by other upper government institution. The natural resources as a part of the Rokan river wetland area, it well support of the important of fishery to Rokan Hulu Regency, so that recently it will be one of the fishing recreation tourism come from various cities such as Pekanbaru and Duri. Base on the main scientific priority and the persistent of Islamic University of Riau's expertise on the rural and community development, so that Rantau Binuang Sakti is feasible then as a rural reconstruction of the Islamic University of Riau by means to strengthen the fishery and its resources, develop creative economy embedded with spiritual and eco-tourism as well as possible to be a potential production center for horticultural fruit for the region (inhabitant) consumption.
