Industrial areas present special hazards for blind workers. This article describes these hazards and the mobility techniques, including sound clues, that can be used to facilitate proficient travel, as well as the preparation for mobility that is necessary before a blind person seeks employment in industry.

Rural areas, because of their comparative lack of convenient guidelines, require that blind persons employ somewhat different travel methods from those used in urban situations. The ways in which natural and man-made features of the environment, as well as other clues, can be used for confident travel are discussed, and suggestions for teaching mobility in rural areas are presented.

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rapidly spreading, life‐threatening, bacterial disease. Mortality rates have been estimated to vary between 8.7% and 74%. Mortality depends on many factors, one of which Is early recognition. Necrotizing fasciitis of dental origin has a low prevalence and as such presents diagnostic challenges for the dentist. The literature is reviewed, and a case history Is presented.
