Les pratiques politiques informelles subvertissent parfois les institutions politiques et les lois officielles. Cet article se consacre ainsi à la pratique du wasta en Jordanie. Il s'agit d'une pratique courante dans les pays arabes, le wasta étant une forme de relation client-patron dans laquelle des citoyens moins puissants cherchent à exercer une influence auprès de responsables gouvernementaux qui le sont plus. Cette pratique comporte toutefois une grave injustice, car certaines personnes accèdent au wasta tandis que d'autres n'y accèdent pas ou moins que d'autres. En outre, parce que cela transforme les représentants du gouvernement en sources d'accès privilégié, la pratique du wasta érode la confiance sociale, conduit à une mauvaise évaluation de l'action du gouvernement et éloigne les citoyens de la vie politique du pays. Cet argumentaire s'appuie sur les données des entretiens.
