Kamerun - die am Golf von Guinea gelegene ehemals deutsche Kolonie - ist ein geostrategisch relevantes, zentralafrikanisches Land reich an natürlichen Ressourcen. Das Werk befasst sich mit Regelungsoptionen von Umweltinteressen im afrikanischen Kontext, welche auch im Rahmen der internationalen Entwicklungszu-sammenarbeit und des Wirtschaftsaustauschs relevant sind.
Kamerun - die am Golf von Guinea gelegene ehemals deutsche Kolonie - ist ein geostrategisch relevantes, zentralafrikanisches Land reich an natürlichen Ressourcen. Das kamerunische Recht ist ein Faszinosum aus unterschiedlichen Rechtsquellen. Die Einflüsse aus dem englischen und französischen Recht, gepaart mit den Gewohnheitsrechten der zahlreichen ethnischen Bevölkerungsgruppen, sind auch im Bereich des Umweltschutzes Beleg für den dort bestehenden Rechtspluralismus. Die Publikation passt sich an die heutige - qua Verfassung vorgegebene - Sprachenpolitik Kameruns an, indem sie sowohl englische als auch französische Kapitel beinhaltet. Das kamerunische Umweltrecht und die nationale Umweltpolitik werden im Zusammenspiel internationaler und völkerrechtlicher Umweltnormen und -vorgaben beleuchtet. Hierbei wird auch auf das Umweltrecht der Afrikanischen Union und jenes der Regionalgemeinschaften in Zentralafrika eingegangen. Im Detail werden Themen wie Umweltmanagement, Wasser- und Landrecht, Erhaltung der Artenvielfalt, Ressourcenschutzrecht, Bergbau- und Energierecht, Umweltstrafrecht, Klimaschutzrecht, Umweltgerechtigkeit und Menschenrechte, sowie die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen internationalen Handels und nachhaltiger Entwicklung dargestellt. Dabei reflektiert die Publikation rechtliche und politische Regelungsoptionen von Umweltinteressen im afrikanischen Kontext, welche auch im Rahmen der internationalen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und des Wirtschaftsaustauschs relevant sind.
