In multi-national surveys, different countries usually implement different sample designs. The sample designs affect the variance of estimates of differences between countries. When making such estimates, analysts often fail to take sufficient account of sample design. This failure occurs sometimes because variables indicating stratification, clustering, or weighting are unavailable, partially available, or in a form that is unsuitable for cross-national analysis. In this article, we demonstrate how complex sample design should be taken into account when estimating differences between countries, and we provide practical guidance to analysts and to data producers on how to deal with partial or inappropriately-coded sample design indicator variables. Using EU-SILC as a case study, we evaluate the inverse misspecification effect (imeff ) that results from ignoring clustering or stratification, or both in a between-country comparison where countries' sample designs differ. We present imeff for estimates of between-country differences in a number of demographic and economic variables for 19 European Union Member States. We assess the magnitude of imeff and the associated impact on standard error estimates. Our empirical findings illustrate that it is important for data producers to supply appropriate sample design indicators and for analysts to use them.

Публікація вибраних документів з першого та другому томів збірника документів «Події 1914-1922 років в Україні: їх сенс та історичне значення» була здійснена у 39 та 40-му томах Збірника. Цього разу публікуємо матеріали з третього тому. Укладачі відібрали 37 документів чи їх фрагментів, які хронологічно охоплюють час від 6 березня по 18 жовтня 1918 року. А саме: перші 464-626 – про проголошення Павла Скоропадського Гетьманом України та труднощі у формуванні уряду, налагодження відносин з Центральними державами та питання про прискорення ратифікації Берестейського договору тощо, соціально-політичні рухи та підривну діяльніть більшовиків в Україні. Наступні 674-822 – про дипломатичні переговори та непоступливу боротьбу Гетьмана за створення «Великої України» (і особливо цікавим тут є документ 694, який демонструє високу оцінку національно-української політики гетьманського уряду). Останні 866-951 – про відносини України з більшовиками, Румунією та іншими державами. Сподіваємося дані документи стануть у нагоді як студентам, так і дослідникам міжнародних відносин і історії України початку ХХ ст. Оскільки документи вибрані нами з різних частин книги, ми як раніше зберегли їх порядкові номери та номери сторінок, стилістику оформлення заголовків та підписів. The objective of the study was to identify the legal mechanisms for the protection of the family rights of the child and to outline the main problems of their implementation. The child's family rights system was found to contain the child's intangible basic rights, which establish his or her legal status in the family. This system includes the child's right to life, name, citizenship, knowledge of his parents, care of parents, coexistence with parents, preservation of his identity and citizenship, free expression of his own views. It states that the protection of the family rights of the child and the legal relations of parents and children is based on four principles. It is determined that the practical solution of issues related to the exercise of the family rights of the child is regulated by international law, which makes it possible to resolve issues related to the legal relationship between parents and children at the inter-State level. It is concluded that perspectives on legislative support for the family rights of the child demand further empirical research, as well as a theoretical and methodological justification for determining the legal mechanisms of their practical implementation.
