It is well recognized that culturally and spiritually relevant alcohol and chemical dependency treatment programs are most successful. Washington's licensing standards for such programs and facilities, however, fail to address the cultural and spiritual needs of Indians who they serve. The State's current one-size-fits-all approach offers no hope for improved treatment outcomes for Indians. This Comment demonstrates the inadequacy of Washington's current treatment facility and program licensing standards and examines the high costs of maintaining these standards. The Comment concludes with a proposal for specific legislation for the State of Washington.

It is the author's contention that the time for U.S.-Vietnamese normalization is now, for both geo-political and economic reasons. It is in the interest of the USA to help Vietnam become politically stable. He examines the efforts of the various U.S. administrations at reconciliation with Vietnam, official discussions between the USA and Vietnam for the past two years and varying views of the U.S.-congress, the American business community and the interested segments of the public in the USA on normalizations of relations with Vietnam. Summary: A social identity model of effort exertion in groups is presented. In contrast to most traditional research on productivity and performance motivation, the model is assumed to apply to groups of all sizes and nature, and to all membership contingent norms that specify group behaviors and goals. It is proposed that group identification renders behavior group-normative and encourages people to behave in line with group norms. The effect should be strengthened among people who most need consensual identity validation from fellow members, and in intergroup contexts where there is inescapable identity threat from an outgroup. Together these processes should encourage people to exert substantial effort on behalf of their group.

The question of the Italian colonies played an important part in the breakdown of Allied cooperation after the Second World War. Britain and the United States were closely involved in this question, yet their respective roles have not received the detailed historical attention which they merit. Based on extensive research in British and American archives, this book will seek to analyse British and US policy on this question within its Cold War context.
