Since 1999, in the aftermath of the tragic failures in Rwanda and
Srebrenica, the UN Security Council (UNSC) has readily and consistently
entrusted UN peacekeeping operations (UNPKOs) with robust mandates and the
authority to use force beyond self-defense for the protection of civilians.
In the ensuing decades, it has also sought to provide more robust resources
including vehicles, weapons, equipment, and technologies to enable UNPKOs to
implement and fulfill their mandates. What is only now being addressed,
however, is the need for more robust performance. This presentation
describes the mindset, understanding, and attitudes that are required to
achieve an effective level of performance.

In the present article the issue of transformation of religious situation in Egypt after the 2011 revolution is being analyzed. Throughout centuries religion used to and continues to play tremendous role in the Egyptian society. However at the current transitory period conflict between secularly and religiously oriented forces has intensified. Abolishing the prohibition for religiously marked parties and movements to participate in political life of the country has questioned the future of Egypt as the conflict between secularists and religious conservatives has shifted to the political area.

The Chapter seeks to dispel the myth that the immunity of the United Nations amounts to impunity. Accountability is, in fact, required by the applicable law and established policy and practice of the Organization. Immunity and accountability are two co-equal pillars of the 1946 Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations and the Status of Forces Agreement. While the UN does enjoy immunity from legal process, it is obliged to provide appropriate modes of settlement of private law disputes to which it is a party. In the case of Cholera in Haiti, the UN Secretariat, the other UN principal organs and UN Member States all failed to ensure respect for the obligations of the United Nations. If even one of them had fulfilled its role properly, then justice could have been done. Thus far, with the notable exception of the human rights special rapporteurs, all have failed to do so.
