Describes two very different paths taken by Saudi Arabian sisters -- one in search of peace & security within the restraining cultural norms of Saudi Arabia & one as a liberated woman reaching her career goals within the freer but more dangerous society in New York City. America offered her dreams of freedom & opportunity until the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11 (2001). For the first time, she experienced racial profiling & loss of civil liberties as well as the previously unrecognized undercurrents of US intolerance. With no better alternative, she hesitatingly took her citizenship oath, hoping that the ideals of this nation would not fail her. Adapted from the source document.
