Women's movements are increasingly influencing the traditional power configurations in Pakistan. This chapter begins by defining the women's movement & looking at its relationship with civil society. The chapter then examines the effects of the women's movement on power configurations at three levels: (1) family, community, & state. It concludes by discussing the "NGO-ization" of the women's movement, a process that highlights the pros & cons of compensated activism. 31 References. K. Larsen
