Statement in reply to an order of the House of Delegates, 9th February, 1839, calling for certain information relative to surveys made in the summer of 1838 for the route of the Maryland canal
Report related to a proposed canal from Baltimore to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Includes statement from James P. Kirkwood, engineer, regarding surveys of the Maryland canal. Includes a second report, entitled "Report to Colonel J.J. Abert, descriptive of surveys made in the summer of 1838, in relation to the route of the Maryland canal," signed by Thos. J. Lee, and James P. Kirkwood. The reports include information on reservoirs, feeders, different routes, and rivers, branches, and feeders. Numerous tables of the survey information are provided. A letter of transmittal from J.J. Abert (Col. Top. Eng.) to G.G. Brewer, Esq. (Clerk, House of Delegates, State of Maryland) is dated February 13th, 1839
