In diesem Beitrag, der ethnologische und soziologische Theorieansätze zusammenführt, wird am Beispiel ethnographischer Forschungsdaten aus dem subsaharischen Afrika (Sambia) nach dem Zusammenhang zwischen den lebensweltlichen Effekten pfingstlerischer Theologien, die den Heiligen Geist (pneuma) betreffen, und pfingstlerischen Modalitäten der Konstituierung translokaler Gemeinschaften gefragt. Diese Fokussierung erlaubt geläufige Beschreibungsmodelle religiöser Vergemeinschaftung zu hinterfragen und drei Modalitäten der Konstituierung soziospiritueller Gemeinschaft herauszuarbeiten: In der "Logistik des Geistes" expandiert die pfingstlerische Gemeinschaft in der sozialräumlichen Logik eines Netzwerkes, denn das Raumverhalten des Heiligen Geistes verläuft hier parallel zum Raumverhalten seiner menschlichen Geistmedien; im Modus der "Selbstvervielfältigung" des Heiligen Geistes ist die Form der Vergemeinschaftung durch eine Streuung charakterisiert, bei dem autonome Enklaven der Spiritualisierung miteinander in Beziehung stehen; der Modus der "Spirituellen Skalierung" stellt eine spirituelle Durchdringung des Sozialraums dar, die durch expandierende und kontrahierende Gestaltwandel des Heiligen Geistes erwirkt wird und im entsprechenden Sozialraum einen totalitären Charakter hat.

In this article, I examine anthropological conceptions of religious belief by concentrating on the problems that arise in employing them in socioreligious fields characterized by pluralism, a high degree of mobility in changing religious affiliation, and by what Rosalind Shaw and Charles Stewart have called "anti‐syncretism" (1994). Instead of discarding the concept for anthropology, however, as some scholars have proposed, I suggest that indigenous discourses referring to and practices of belief represent an important field of anthropological inquiry, particularly as concerns non‐Western forms of Christianity. In this article, I argue that people's ideas of and experiences with spiritual entities engender particular ways of talking about and practicing belief. Analyzing religious practices among the Zambian Gwembe Tonga, it is shown that some conceptual problems can be overcome by shifting the focus from belief as a stable and perpetual interior state of religious practitioners to the practice of cyclically regenerating a condition of internalized "believing."

Wer sich aufmacht, der Rede vom Plausiblen nachzuspüren, kommt zu einem eigenartigen Befund: In Alltag und Wissenschaft sind Aussagen, dass etwas "plausibel" ist, nahezu allgegenwärtig. Auf der anderen Seite zeigt sich, dass wissenschaftliche Konzeptualisierungen der im Begriff anklingenden Bedeutungen selten sind. Der Band bietet daher eine interdisziplinäre kulturwissenschaftliche Erkundung des Konzepts der Plausibilität und der Praxis des Plausibilisierens. Dabei beleuchten die Beiträger*innen soziokulturelle Erscheinungsformen, Modalitäten, Funktionsweisen, Dynamiken und Strategien des Plausibilisierens - jeweils in unterschiedlichen historischen und regionalen Kontexten.
