The capability to conduct operations without delay in all parts of the world is the principal focus of the transformation of the Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and thus also of the Army. Below the level of the Federal Ministry of Defense it is the Army Forces Command and the Army Office which are responsible for maintaining and advancing this capability. While the Army Forces Command is in charge of the administrative control of the formations/units of the Army and the performance of tasks as force provider for German contingents in operations, the Army Office in its function as a "concept office" has been designed to develop conceptual ideas for the transformation of the Army and to work out basics for training, armament and, in future, also for logistics as well as for the organization of the Army. In addition, the Army Office runs the schools and central training facilities of the Army and represents the Army in important fields of international cooperation. (Europäische Sicherheit / SWP)
