Kvalitetsteknologier som akkreditering og Den Danske Kvalitetsmodel præsenterer sig som om de er altomfattende – som om de dækker alle sundhedsydelser og adresserer alle relevante forhold. Overfor den forestilling hævder artiklen, at det er afgørende, at disse kvalitetsteknologier indtænker egne begrænsninger – fordi en sådan refleksion er forudsætning for at give andre typer af fornuft og aktører plads til at fremme og sikre kvaliteten af deres ydelser. Hovedparten af artiklen er en analyse af fire forskellige typer af grænser for kvalitet – som de kan iagttages i forhold til Den Danske Kvalitetsmodel, som udgør artiklens empiriske materiale. De fire typer af grænser handler om grænser ved konstruktionen af modellen; om grænser for hvilke forhold man kan formulere standarder og indikatorer for; om grænser for hvilke aktiviteter, der kan formuleres retningslinjer for og endelig om grænser for synliggørelse. De fire eksempler skal belægge den generelle pointe, at der er grænser for kvalitetsteknologier. Men vigtigere er det, at en lokalisering af de konkrete grænser er en forudsætning for at diskutere, hvordan man kan forholde sig til de specifikke begrænsninger. Som bidrag til en sådan diskussion diskuterer artiklen afslutningsvis to mulige reaktioner på lokaliseringen af grænser. Den ene reaktion handler om at udvikle forskellige typer af selvbegrænsning. Den anden handler om at få lavet repræsentationer af det udgrænsede inden for kvalitetskommunikationen.

Modern societies and organizations are characterized by multiple kinds of observations, systems, or rationalities, rather than singular identities and clear hierarchies. This holds true for healthcare where we find a range of different perspectives - from medicine to education, from science to law, from religion to politics - brought together in different types of arrangements. Covid-19-pandemien har tydeliggjort, at nye zoonoser indebærer usikkerheder og mangel på viden. Dermed bliver det relevant at undersøge, hvordan organisationer og andre aktører håndterer distinktionen mellem viden og ikke-viden. Sidstnævnte er denne artikels fokus. Inspireret af, hvad der er blevet kaldt agnotology (Proctor & Schiebinger 2008) og the sociology of ignorance (Gross & Mcgoey 2015; McGoey 2012, 2019), analyserer vi produktionen og fastholdelsen af ikke-viden relateret til spredningen af husdyr-MRSA i de danske svinebesætninger i årene fra 2010-2015, hvor forekomsten steg til et irreversibelt niveau. Vi bidrager til den sociologiske litteratur om uvidenhedens samfundsmæssige rolle og skabelse med et kommunikativt perspektiv på ikke-viden. Analysen viser, hvordan ikke-viden blev (re)produceret og fastholdt i kommunikation gennem dennes selektioner. Ydermere viser vi, hvordan disse kommunikative selektioner var filtret sammen med adskillige dynamikker, såsom et spil mellem viden og mål, diverse interessehensyn, bureaukratisk silotænkning og en selvbeskyttelse mod viden, som forpligtede til handling. Afslutningsvis diskuterer vi implikationerne af vores undersøgelse for fremtidige håndteringer af zoonoser.

This article studies the organisational view inherent in a public management and leadership development programme. Organisational views are important to study as they guide and frame the actions of the members of the organisation. In the management and leadership development programme under investigation the organisational view was a linguistic-discursive representation that was empirically inept, but which nevertheless was offered as a guide to the managers. Inspired by Clifford Geertz's notion of religion we suggest conceptualising the presented organisational view as the deep organisation. The analysis contributes to the literature on public management and leadership development programmes by calling attention to the implicit concepts of organisation that on the one hand provide managers with the motivation and authority to carry out their daily ordering of the constantly fluctuating empirical organisation, while to some extent making managers immune to experience-based learning on the other. The notion of the deep organisation expands our understanding of the layered nature of assumptions about organisations, through which seeming contradictions can be handled. In the discussion we outline three important implications of the analysed organisational view.

Multiple interventions in the aging process have been discovered to extend the healthspan of model organisms. Both industry and academia are therefore exploring possible transformative molecules that target aging and age‐associated diseases. In this overview, we summarize the presented talks and discussion points of the 5th Annual Aging and Drug Discovery Forum 2018 in Basel, Switzerland. Here academia and industry came together, to discuss the latest progress and issues in aging research. The meeting covered talks about the mechanistic cause of aging, how longevity signatures may be highly conserved, emerging biomarkers of aging, possible interventions in the aging process and the use of artificial intelligence for aging research and drug discovery.
