Der staaatliche Sicherheitsapparat in Rußland hat sich seit 1991 in einem ständigen Wandel befunden. Während die Funktionen des früheren KGB anfänglich auf mehrere Organisationen aufgeteilt waren, haben die Zentralisierungsbestrebungen Präsident El'cins zu einer erneuten Reintegration dieser Dienste geführt. Bei der neuen Struktur handelt es sich jedoch nicht um eine direkte Fortsetzung des KGB: stärker als in der Vergangenheit unterliegen sie der unmittelbaren präsidentiellen Kontrolle. (BIOst-Mrk)
