This article is based on an ethnography of the railway siding at Raxaul Junction railway station, a town on the Bihar–Nepal border, which finds itself at the intersection of a massive logistical exercise by China in the form of the Belt Road Initiative, counter-logistical apparatus building by India and incremental hardening of an otherwise 'open' border by Nepal. The article will analyse in detail the intricate network of the labour market that operates at and through the railway siding. It will also trace the origins of commodities used in the cement factories in the industrial corridor of Nepal that are extracted from some of the most deprived regions of India at great human and social costs. Finally, I will describe some of the latest exercises in logistical operations such as containerisation, opening of a new land port, the Integrated Check Post in Raxaul and operationalisation of a new dedicated freight corridor from Vishakhapatnam port to Raxaul, which is reconfiguring the logistical arrangements away from Kolkata and Haldia port and their implications on labour and labour practices. The Raxaul railway siding will be, hence, studied on multiple scales: global, national and local. The article will also try to understand the transformation of this very peculiar border town located on a unique border. This transformation is creating new labour processes, migratory processes and networks, and new modes of production of workers' subjectivities and resistance along the global logistical apparatus and supply chains. It will also open up the possibilities of thinking conceptually about 'South Asian Border Systems'.

In this work, a highly directional ultra-wideband (UWB) microstrip patch antenna as a single-element is suggested. The proposed antenna's gain is enhanced with a novel dual-band frequency selective surface (FSS) placed beneath it. The FSS design has a hexagonal structure with meander line inductances and a capacitance-like structure connecting all of the corners to the middle. There is no metallic layer on the other side of the substrate, which shows transmission zeros at 4.95 GHz and 12.7 GHz, and a modified U-shaped monopole antenna is developed. First, the performance characteristics of the antenna and FSS are analyzed from the simulation results, and they are validated experimentally after fabrication, followed by measurement. The compact configuration comprises an antenna loaded with the proposed FSS results S11 less than -10 dB from 3.15 GHz to 22.65 GHz, covering the UWB band together with the X, Ku-band with a bandwidth of 19.5 GHz (151.16% FBW). The antenna's overall physical dimensions would be 38.8 mm×38.8 mm×25.2 mm (0.407λo×0.407λo×0.265λo), with λo denoting the lowest frequency's free-space wavelength. The FSS loading results in a 9.9 dBi maximum gain at 10 GHz. The antenna's small size increases bandwidth, and its high peak gain makes it ideal for use in real-time applications.

The present work shows a planar compact ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with controllable dualband-notch frequencies at 3.3 GHz for WiMAX and 5 GHz for WLAN. In the proposed antenna, the lower notchband (at a frequency of 3.3 GHz) is made by cutting a thin horizontal strip on top of the radiating patch. The uppernotch band (at a frequency of 5 GHz) is made by putting two narrow parasitic strips in the shape of an "I" oneither side of the radiating patch. The incorporation of three varactor diodes between the radiating patch and three metallic strips provides the flexibility of adjusting the notch frequencies. The notch band tunability between 3.15 GHz and 3.69 GHz and between 4.93 GHz and 5.59 GHz, respectively, is achieved by changing the bias voltageof the varactor diode between 0 V and 30 V. The gain and efficiency characteristics of the designed antenna alsoexhibit band rejection at the respective notch frequencies. The design principle is validated by fabricating andmeasuring a prototype of the proposed dual-band, notched UWB antenna. For three different bias voltages of thevaractor, the simulated and experimental findings are in reasonable agreement. In this paper we discuss the design of Magnetic focusing system (MFS) for a compact helix travelling wave tube (TWT) operating in Ka-band. Issues related to the design of the magnetic focusing system have been discussed in detail along with practical measurement results. The key design parameters considered for this TWT are: the cathode voltage is around 9.3kV, beam current is 200mA and total length of the tube not more than 6 inch with minimal weight.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has dramatically affected the lives of people worldwide. Countries and citizens are battling with the virus as well as financial losses at the same time. In these gloomy times vaccine against COVID-19 brought some ray of hope. Vaccine hesitancy, however, would not only delay this ongoing pandemic but also even cause huge economic debts on the countries. Aims and Objectives: The objective of the study was to estimate the prevalence and to determine the reasons behind vaccine hesitancy among healthcare workers (HCWs) at ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad, Haryana. Materials and Methods: An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted among HCWs registered by government of India for COVID-19 vaccination at tertiary care center. Those who did not turn up on their day of appointment for vaccination were tracked and randomly selected for interview. Data were collected using semi structured questionnaire and was analyzed by Epi info 7.0. Results: A total of 759 HCWs out of 2029 registered at our center got vaccinated between the study periods. Mean age of participants was 28 years, including 64 (59.8%) men and 43 (40.2%) women. Most of the participants were doctors (31%) followed by medical students. Prevalence of vaccine hesitancy during study period was found to be 62.6%. The most common reason cited by participants for vaccine hesitancy was concern regarding safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccine. Multiple factors, including sex, designation, and co-morbidities and whether involved in the direct care of COVID-19 patient, were found to have influence on vaccine hesitancy. Conclusion: High prevalence of vaccine hesitancy as found in the present study is an alarming sign for a successful vaccination campaign. Developing tailored strategies to address concerns identified in the study are pivotal to decrease vaccine hesitancy among HCWs and thereby in the general population.
