[ES] Hydrophobia, or repellence to water in some soils, makes it difficult to infiltrate the water and, consequently, to establish vegetation. As repellence appears in isolated areas, preferential flows in their contours are favoured. This work shows some hydrophobic characteristics detected in the sandy soils of the dunar cordon of the Atlantic coast near the Doñana National Park, analysing its origin and extent in the areas analysed. The collaboration of Dr has been of great help in the field work. Rafaela Ordoñez and Juan de Haro, both of which belong to the CIFA de Córdoba. It is also recognised that Dr Tomás Moyano, Director of the Electronic Microscopy Service at the University of Córdoba, is prepared to use the electronic scanning microscopy and to carry out and process the images. The funding of CICYT through projects AMB 92-0636 and AMB 95-0372 is welcome. It also thanked the Doñana Natural Park for its support and assistance from the crèche, the Doñana National Park, and in particular Mr Carlos Urdiales for providing meteorological data.
