The article offers an analysis of the collection Ėtiudy o Telʹ-Avive [Etudes about Tel Aviv], which was published in Russian in 2004 and edited by Sonia Chesnina and Leonid Finkelʹ. The study attempts to show the image of the city of Tel Aviv from the perspective of Russian-speaking repatriates. The author treats the analysed texts as non-fiction prose, expressing authentic migration experiences and problems. In those texts, Tel Aviv exists as a city-myth, a city of culture, and a place where a new identity is born and shaped. The analysis allows us to conclude that Etudes about Tel Aviv is not only a text about urban space. It is primarily a cultural text, a place of literary search for knowledge about its inhabitants' culture, history, and identity. If we look at the relationship between geography and literature, the text (Etudes about Tel Aviv) and the city (Tel Aviv) constitute a "common territory".

The aim of this article is to present changes in the employment policy in Poland after the Second World War(in a synthetic manner), with particular emphasis on employment agency and vocational counseling provided by employment offices. Due to the wide range of research issues, the considerations focus on legal and organizational issues as well as the objectives and development directions of employment services. The article uses two historical methods of research: philosophical and statistical. What is more, following source texts were analyzed: legal acts, printed sources, archival sources. After World War II, public employment services evolved compared to the period of the Second Polish Republic. Their main goal was no longer to mitigate the effects of unemployment, but to eliminate it and achieve full employment for the needs of the expanding economic compound. In addition to traditional job placement, a number of instruments for recruiting and activating the workforce has been introduced, including vocational guidance. Poland's entering the path of socialist industrialization led to a further transformation of the activities of employment offices as well asto the elimination of vocational guidance.

This article is devoted to the issues of identity formed in the Russian-Jewish borderland. The study discusses Dina Rubina's short story "Iabloki iz sada Shlitsbutera" ("Apples from Shlitzbutter's Garden") as an autobiographical tale that reflects the actual processes of reconstructing the identity of the author-hero, a representative of the Great Aliyah, a person living at the crossroads of cultures. The author concludes that there is no fixed and unchanging identity. Particularly in the conditions of a cultural borderland and in watershed moments (repatriation), identity evolves and is subject to constant reconstruction.

The main aim of this article lies in the comparison of ancient cosmico-natural elements from the Vedic period with their counterparts in the Presocratics, with a focus on food, air, water and fire. By way of an introduction to the ancient elemental world, we first present the concept of food (anna) as an idiosyncratic Vedic teaching of the ancient elements. This is followed by our first comparison—of Raikva's natural philosophy of Vāyu/prāṇa with Anaximenes's pneûma/aér teaching in the broader context of both the Vedic and Presocratic teachings on the role of air/breath. Secondly, water as brought to us in pañcāgnividyā teaching from Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad and Chāndogya Upaniṣad is compared to the teaching of the Greek natural philosopher Thales. Finally, the teaching on fire as heat being present in all beings (agni vaiśvānara) and in relation to cosmic teachings on fire in the ancient Vedic world are compared to Heraclitus' philosophy of fire as an element. Additionally, this article also presents a survey and analysis of some of the key representatives of comparative and intercultural philosophy dealing with the elemental and natural philosophy of ancient India and Greece.

After the end of World War I and Poland regaining independence after 123 years of captivity, its situation was difficult in every respect. Entangled in various political problems, Second Polish Republic could not direct the right forces and resources to those areas of social life that were the most neglected and required quick and radical action. Lack of work after the war and increasing unemployment every year resulted in the deepening poverty of those less resourceful, inheriting poverty from generation to generation. Often the only salvation for the family was sending the children to work immediately after graduating from primary school or even earlier. The Polish government, aware of this situation, did not have the possibility to address the problem properly.
The aim of the article is to show how difficult the situation of children and families can be when the national support system is ineffective. By analogy, it is also intended to emphasize the importance of activities undertaken by the present government for the benefit of children and families. Owing to the interest and various forms of support, children, regardless of their financial status, are provided with opportunities for development and a dignified life.

; The anthropogenic climate change has by now caused a lot of harm, not only that, I believe it is especially problematic, because it is an infringement of human rights, and it is therefore a responsibility of all of us to stop it or at least reduce its progression. Governments need to establish a policy which will enable individuals to make the right, rational choices that are going to make their lives better, not worse. The environmental policy, especially the one regarding global warming and sustainable development, is one of such policies. The environmental policy is one of the policies with the greatest temporal and areal spans. Environmental policies created today do not only impact this generation, but also the future ones. This thesis presents one way of solving the issue of environmental policy. The core of this policy should are the means of libertarian paternalism, which I defend.I propose that the choice of a decision-maker has to be influenced to achieve the desired goal, because human mind is biased and therefore the choices we very often make can be seen irrational inconsistent with our desired goal. Libertarian paternalism offers tools that can be used to influence the choices people make and guide the individuals towards the desired goal.In the case of climate change, the desired goal is a new social contract which includes the means of sustainable development in order to preserve the environment for the future generations, enables the improvement of the environment, and reduces global warming. I explore what the individuals responsibility in the fight against climate change is and what the governments can do to make it easier for the individuals to fulfil these responsibilities and increase their morale. I believe the only way to change a pessimistic perception is to change the mentality regarding the topic, as well as to overcome the inertia, and by changing it on the individual level, it will also be changed on the level of the community. ; vorgelegt von Dora Lenart ; Zusammenfassungen in Deutsch und Englisch ; Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, Masterarbeit, 2017 ; (VLID)2246092

Purpose. The educational process requires a commitment from officer cadets to develop and maintain physical fitness as a basis for implementing various training tasks. This process is often associated with numerous overloads and musculoskeletal injuries in students. Therefore, the aim of the study was to assess whether injuries and overloads suffered during the training process at the Military Academy of Land Forces differentiated somatic constitution, physical fitness and functional parameters of the respiratory system in the officer cadets. Methods. The research material was gathered as a result of testing officer cadets of the Military Academy of Land Forces in Wrocław in 2011-2015. 89 men were covered by the study. The average age of the examined cadets was 22.9 years. Examinations of the students included anthropometric measurements, physical fitness tests, spirometry and a survey. Results. The results indicate the presence of significant differences in the somatic construction of the officer cadets. Similar physical fitness and the level of the respiratory system efficiency characterized separated groups of students in terms of suffered injuries. Conclusions. Previous injuries turned out to be a factor, which significantly differentiated somatic constitution of the officer cadets. The advantageous, from the health point of view, mean values of the body height, lean body mass, muscle mass and bone mass characterized students, who during the four-year education at the military academy did not suffer musculoskeletal injuries. Past injuries were not also a factor, which substantially diversified the level of functional characteristics.
