The conflict between Peking and Hong Kong has intensified recently as a result of the Tienman massacre of 4 June, 1989. Peking's policy toward Hong Kong has changed in line with the changes in the colony itself. The paper examines the following three aspects of the Hong Kong issue: the revision of certain clauses of the Basic Law of the future Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, personnel changes in the Hong Kong Branch of the New China News Agency and recent adjustments in Peking's united front policy regarding Hong Kong. This study explored what Taiwanese parents would educate their children about peace and what children retained from parental teaching, as well as children's reported communication with parents about peace. In‐depth interviews were conducted with 60 parents and one of their children. Based on the perceptions of children, the most influential learning children received from their parents in peace education is the aspect of negative descriptions of peace (what peace is not). Unique findings suggest that Taiwanese parenting about peace focuses more on teaching children personal cultivation and interpersonal harmony than introducing the ideas of international collaboration or universal rights. The findings suggest that the specific macrosystem of Taiwan may influence how parents educate their children about peace. One important implication for family practitioners is the necessity to take into account the traditional cultural values particular to the group they work with and to connect those to peace education when designing programs.

As one of the important developing countries, China has experienced a tremendous amount of economic growth in the past 30 years. This in turn has attracted a huge amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country. However, according to past literature, FDI location is imbalance in China. Building upon this finding, this paper attempts to identify factors affecting the location determinants of FDI in China. By introducing spatial variable into the analysis, this paper measures the agglomeration effect of a city level data. The results show that the spatial variable (market potential factor), plays a significant role in FDI flows. Also I find that previous FDI flow, market potential factor, infrastructure construction, government preferential policies and coastal location can attract FDI flow. While higher wages and education level effects are not clear. By separating the data into two sub-sample periods (1996-2002 and 2003-2008), I find that in response to the transformation of the economic situation, foreign investors shift their investment direction into regions with high education and high income level. This observation is different to previous studies. This study provides deeper perspective on the factors that attract FDI flows to China, and how the transformation of the economic environment change the direction of FDI flows.

In comparison with face-centered cubic (FCC) and body-centered cubic (BCC) metals and alloys, hexagonal close-packed (HCP) metals and alloys show distinct characteristics, such as atomic site occupation, anisotropic microstructure, and fewer slip systems, owing to their HCP lattice structure. Therefore, HCP metals and alloys have distinguished processing, microstructure, and properties. Several types of HCP metals and alloys, involving titanium, zirconium, magnesium, and so on, are extensively used in a variety of industrial and military sectors. Up to date, an increased requirement is still needed to improve the understanding of the relationships among processing, microstructures, and the resultant properties of HCP metals and alloys. In the meantime, surface modification may be conducted on the HCP metals and alloys to obtain better surface properties. However, many challenges are still open for the surface modification of HCP metals and alloys. In the contents of this topic, many endeavors are made to highlight the recent advances related to the processing methods (including surface modification), microstructures, and properties of HCP metals and alloys.
