The study of the origins and early years of the Fourth International acquires a special relevance when considering them as part of the process of construction and criticism of the organizational and political tools of the working class that continues to this day. From its origins, the Fourth International was marked by political disputes within the Communist International, by the first positions as the Left Opposition, by the persecution of Trotskyist sympathizers and by the assassination of Leon Trotsky. Thus, this book is based on the need and the importance of investigating the history of Socialist Internationals in the key of an international history of socialism, insofar as the local and regional expressions of this current can be comprehensively understood through comparative and transnational analysis.
Trotskyists under Nazi terror. A history of the Fourth International during World War II, develops a historical analysis of the political perspective carried out by the Fourth International in Europe during World War II through the comparative study of the French, North American, Belgian and British sections. Taking as one of the central axes the resurgence of the discussion on the national question in Europe, it is observed how the crisis of the Fourth International did not begin with the debate on entryism in 1953 but ten years before, due to the difficulties of the organization to adapt to the new European scenario inaugurated in mid-1943 with the deposition of Benito Mussolini and the beginning of the "bourgeois-democratic counterrevolution" from the intervention of the United States during the last years of the war.

Asimismo, busca comprender cuál es su relación con las políticas demográficas y de desarrollo económico en el contexto latinoamericano iniciado a partir de la segunda posguerra ; In the late eighteenth century the direct intervention of the state was strengthened in terms of a biological and social processes, such as: the proportion of births and deaths, the reproduction rate, the fertility of a population, etc. These processes were constituted, in practice, in the object of measurement demographic statistics. They were also the outline of an intervention policy in global phenomena of reproduction and sexuality. Accepting that regulations on sexuality and reproduction existed adopting different ways according to the context, but never being explicit (ie, adopted and adopt the name of "population policy" or "natalist"), one wonders what reasons explain such situation. Thus, this paper aims to analyze, from the theoretical approach of the Social Reproduction Theory, the practice of abortion as a fundamental element in the system of reproduction and production of wage labor. Additionally, this paper looks to understand what kind of relationship it has with demographic and economic development in the second postwar Latin American context ; Fil: Luparello, Velia Sabrina.
; The Nazi occupation of France gave rise to one of the most important debates within French Trotskyism and the Fourth International: the European national question and the demands for democracy. The national problem presented different aspects in different countries, and throughout Europe it fueled the rise of resistance movements against the occupiers. The French Trotskyists were no strangers to this phenomenon, and the debate over whether they should join the maquis was fundamental in the face of the possibility of a socialist revolution in the postwar period. We will attempt to demonstrate that the position of the French Trotskyists on the Resistance was far from univocal. When the partisan movements in Italy and France became mass movements, the majority of the leadership of the Parti ouvrier internationaliste, with Marcel Hic at the helm, developed a favorable policy towards the maquis, but found strong opposition within the party and the European Provisional Secretariat of the Fourth International. The efforts of some POI leaders to join the resistance were abandoned after the Gestapo raids on the party in October 1943. In mid-1945, a new opportunity for the French Trotskyists emerged with the participation of André Calvès in a Communist maquis, but it was lost due to the policy adopted by the new French section, the Parti communiste internationaliste.
This paper summarizes the polemics within the American Trotskyist movement between 1942 and 1945, about the situation in post-war Europe and the political line that Trotskyist organizations should adopt in such situation. The leaders of the SWP, following literally the analysis contained in Trotsky´s Transitional Program of 1938, thought there were no possibilities for the stabilization of democratic regimes in post-war Europe. This narrow "catastrophist" view was questioned by Felix Morrow, Albert Goldman y Jean Van Heijenoort, who confronted the party leadership on this matter.Key words: American Trotskyism - socialist revolution – Post-war Europe – democratic counterrevolution.
